It seems we are all on that same mission to lose 50lbs. or So!! Easier said then done right, but guess what we did before right, therefore we can and will do it again. I like to speak positively. Yes we had the tool of being fresh out of wls, but when I lost my 20lbs. last Spring, it now gives me hope, that if we put a good foot forward we can do anything that seems impossible.
I am having issues with eating so late in the eves. Eating w/appropriate foods but too late! I have got to work on that for sure. Okay either way keep me posted.
Thanks chat soon-jbug
RH happens app 1-2 hrs after eating the carby foods... but even eating just lean proteins...may trigger RH.. specially on a very low carb diet...
the body releases insulin in response to almost any foods (except fats). so for example, protein shake that has no fat - but whey protein only (and water) may trigger RH in people who are sensitive...
It took me a while to learn about that. i.e. egg white omelet, low fat, may trigger RH in me...
RH - lovely RH - I get tunnel/ limited vision and shakes.. and anxiety.I never had a panic attack - but I can imagine that how it can feel like. Plus most of the time I know I have to eat something but I don't want to - the food may taste horrible and i may have a hard time swallowing...
- Symptoms of both reactive and fasting hypoglycemia are similar to diabetes-related hypoglycemia. Symptoms may include hunger, sweating, shakiness, dizziness, light-headedness, sleepiness, confusion, difficulty speaking, anxiety, and weakness.
The best what works for me when I get RH - is after I get my BS to a safe level - then I start eating nut butter.. 1 tsp at a time.. The combination of fats and proteins and carbs helps a lot. if i get really low RH - I may need to eat 1 ptsp of nut butter every 30 min to 1 hour...
with RH - some people recommend proteins, mix meal, etc etc, but my RH also comes with nausea - so most solid foods do not want stay in the pouch. some people recommend crackers with nut butter, but the carbs in crackers may irritate the pancreas in me even more - causing another insulin storm.. and I hate to chew anything when I am shaking...
if you want to read some of my blog- you need to send me a friend request. My blog is only readable to OH friends.. (I had a not OH stocker at one time)

My PCP has told me for the last several years that I am pre-diabetic, this year I wasn't. What does RH feel like? Instead of dumping immediately, my body now waits an hour, so I do watch what and how much of certain things I eat.

RH - is reactive hypoglycemia. A lot of people long term post op RNY have it
Our body can make too much insulin in response to sugars -carbs. My goes all the way..too much insulin will cause blood sugar to drop really low... Mine can drop under 30...and I need to eat carbs/sugars to bring it back, that may cause more insulin release, etc etc...
My endocrinologist theory is that one my pancreas gets stimulated - it keeps making lots of insulin...so it is like chasing my blood sugar .... Get it up only to have it drop over and over...
I have to be very careful what carbs I eat, and how much. Some are worse that others...
Very low BS - it is not only very dangerous, but also can be unpredictable. And each one of us can react differently to different carbs. I.e even 1TBs of mashed taters may trigger RH reaction -episode in me. My friend can eat potatoes, but rice - any rice, almost any qty gives her RH.
And I am not talking about eating the carbs by itself - but even with fats and proteins - my body reacts to that.

Leg pain: Your D may be low, and low ferritin can cause RLS symptoms.
