C25K Update
I started my couch to 5 k program yesterday. WOW was it horrible. I had the worst asthma attack and do not know how I got home. I only lasted 11 min yesterday but today I did it and was more prepared. I lasted 19 min today then walked 16 min to get home (all up hill :D ) I'm very proud of myself and the jump in my time. I know with the program you are supposed to only do it three days a week but I know from experience with my asthma in order to get my lungs ready for each new step in the program I have to do each step almost every day. I'm hoping that by sunday next week I can get through the whole 30 min program so that I can start the next stage next week. I'm really enjoying the running parts and just as it did last time I feel amazing. I'm sore yes but I don't care. It's wonderful to be out there again. Plus it's emotionally uplifting knowing that I'm doing it, I'm accomplishing something, I'm working towards my goals, and no matter what.. that attempt makes me a success.
Great!!! good luck.
But..please make sure you have good running shoes.. properly fitted..

Hey Jenn!
Well done! its such an amazing feeling and can get quite addictive!
My cold has almost cleared so I went for a run on the treadmill today and was able to run 25 minutes straight without stopping.
I'm not following a program as of yet.
first goal in my training is to run a 5k without stopping and then keep adding 1k a week to my running distance.
I love the C25K app, it's what got me into running in the first place.. and for some reason I felt obliged to listen to that voice to tell me to start and stop.
I want to see if there is a c2halfmarathon app.. lol
I wondered the same thing.. If they don't have an app they should... maybe you could create one. It's one that is needed! I can't wait till I can run a whole 5k. I don't want to walk any of it. I'm going to work my butt off to do the best I can ... I mean it's an amazing feat to go from only lasting 11 min to lasting 19 min. I feel so accomplished. Tomorrow I'm going back out and i CAN NOT wait. I get excited even thinking about it. I want it to be an obsession so that when I start working these 12 hr shifts I'm still running. The plan is to go before work so that I'm energized and feeling wonderful through my work day. :D I'm going to try getting up early tomorrow to go so i can get used to running early morning since the first two were at around8 in the morning and when I start working they are going to have to be around 5 am. I can't wait until I am where you are and running for 25 min at a time. Right now I'm jogging/ walking for 19 min. I'm at the run for one minute walk for a minute and a half but can't wait to finish this and move on to the next stage. :D
I did it!!! I lasted the entire 30 min workout. I'm so proud of myself. I can totally do this 5k I just know it. I'm working my rear off to get my rear off Lol. It feels so good to be running again even if it is just a minute at a time. The last C25K that I did the first week you only ran for 45 sec and then walked and I had trouble with that, this time it starts at a min and I'm rocking it. I could probably go longer too. So I look forward to next week but I'm going to do week one until Monday.
CONGRATULATIONS!! Way To Go! You deserve to be very proud of yourself!
Cathy
