Hello Tess, My name is Susan and I am as newbie to this OH group... well to OH all together actually. I had RNY surgery 12/06, with LBL and UBL in Spring/Summer 2010. My highest weight was 325 on Surgery day, wearing a size 24/26. I maintained my goal weight of 135 till the last 9 months or so and find I just cant seem to get the 10 lbs I gained off. I am hoping to gain support for my renewal of my basica and program from this site. I just saw your post and thought I would answer.... You are my first post on the site. Not sure of what is and what is not done here, but I will figure out as I travel along this renewed path. I want to control food again... and it seems that for this temporary session it is controlling me... and I do not want this 12 lbs to turn into 30.. and with just it being only 12 lbs.. I feel the difference in my attitude, clothes and energy... Is this where I should be for help
Hi Susan:
Welcome aboard. You definitely came to the right place if you are looking for support and menu ideas to help get that 12 lbs. back off again. We have all been there and still there working on getting the excess weight back off. I would go back to basics of 100 grams of protein, 50 net carbs and keep my calories around 800-1000 in the beginning to knock off that weight quickly. Avoid all white foods, (breads, pastas, sugar, potatoes, etc) and journal your food daily. Get back into exercising or just take a walk around the neighborhood. Keep your body moving. Make sure you are taking all the vitamins that you need to keep up your energy and drink lots of fluids. Good luck to you and look forward to seeing you daily.
Hello Tess, Thank you so much for your reply. I am excited to find someone who understands.... WLS is a different road to health and life... that many just don't understand. I am glad to find "home" again. Today I did fairly well, but not perfect. I did so good till an unexpected outing for a last min birthday party for a friend of my son. We went to Chuckie Cheese and then to eat. I should have gotten the Greek Salad, but my daughter did not want to share a salad so I let her pick. She got a beef /cheese wrap and we split it with fries. I ate about 6 fries and 1/2 of a 1/2 wrap. I also ate some table bread and crackers as I had allowed myself to get so hungry and was ill prepared and did not have any protein in my purse And the Hostess did offer SF Moose Trac**** cream so one baby scoop and ate half of that which my 9 year old finished off. So for today this is what I had to eat.
Breakfast was a Protein Hot Choclolate (15 grms of protein 60 cal)
snack 1/4 of a small pita with humus (? cal and protein content)
Lunch a protein smoothis made with chocolate protein powder, frozen banana, strawberries and blueberries with SF Raspberry syrup (210 cal with 30 grams protein
PM snack Chocolate Protein Double Chocolate Fudge Cake with Peach Yogurt (30 grms of protein and 120 cal)
then I had the dinner above
Bed time with night meds will be another Protein Shake as above for another 30 grams of Protein.
105 grams of protein (not counting dinner) and calories est approx 900
I will try to do better tomorrow. I seem to really be craving carbs for some reason. I have been under alot of stress lately and I think I am stress eating and I need to love myself more then I am lately. Thank you for listening. Any suggestions are appreciated. I am not sure how to do this site, I am soooo computer dumb it sucks.. and you are the only contact I have made thus far. Thank you so much for your support, ears and advice. Hope you had a good day.
OHHHH my activity today was I cleanned house (I am in the process of gutting rooms and sorting thru everything and doing MAJOR salvation army donations, laundry and picked grape leaves for/with a friend. I want to do better.... I need to do better... I deserve to do better. I need to go back to nothing taste as good as my weight loss feels thought process and I just need to get over this hump whatever it is. Again thanks Susan
I started by doing the 5-day pouch test (www.5daypouchtest.com). Not because it shrinks the pouch--that's a misnomer--but because I needed to stop my craving for carbs and sugar cold turkey. After the 5 days, I continued to eat protein and added non-starchy vegetables, nothing else, split across 5-6 mini meals a day, no grazing. Aim for 164 ounces fluids (sugar-free, decaf), but always reach 80 ounces. Stop drinking 5-10 minutes before a meal, never drink with a meal, and wait to start drinking until 30-60 minutes after a meal. Worked up to exercising minimum of 50 minutes 6-7 days a week (this took some time to figure out with two young children and working full time). Limit calories to 1,200 give or take 50. I log everything on myfitnesspal and reset my goals to 40% protein, 40% fat, 20% carb. I log into OH BOTT every day to at least read if not post. I regained close to 50 pounds from fertility treatments, three pregnancies, two births, and just not eating right or exercising enough. I've lost 37 of those pounds this year
