Back On Track Together
13 yrs Post....help?
ok will try...
ever hear of the ideal protein diet? its expensive so i cant afford that but i got on line and looked up their foods and nutrients..low carb NO SUGAR but u do eat veggies...and take vitamins ...a friend sent me the menu that he follows on the diet...but he buys their food...he lost 100 lbs in like 6 months...wow...lol sounds like he lost what i did with the by pass
It sounds like what we all should be on anyway. No white process foods, proteins such as lean meats, chicken, fish, eggs and cheese, all veggies with the exception of potatoes and corn, no bread, no sweets only fruits. a little fat to grease the engine and no pasta. If you follow this plan and make your menu calories come out to around 1000 a day you will lose the weight. He is a quick menu day for you.
Breakfast: 2 eggs with 1/2 ounce cheese and onions
Snack: 1/2 Protein Quest Bar
Lunch: Flat out wrap or small fajita wrap, lite cream cheese, 1/2 ounce shredded cheese, 2 slices turkey and lettuce and tomato,
Snack: 20 grapes
Snack: 1/2 Protein Quest Bar
Dinner: Grilled Chicken Breast with green beans
Snack: NSA Weigh****chers Ice Cream Sandwich
Cal. 948, Protein: 76, Net Carbs: 70, Fat: 33
Hope this helps, Have a great evening!
I don't lose as well on 1200 calories as I do on 1000 calories. That is why I told you only 1/2 protein bar. I eat two whole protein bars a day but I have them for breakfast and lunch not snack. Your body has been trained to have a big meal come five o'clock probably and is not settling for anything else. We just have to push through. I would try to go each day a little longer than the last day on having to have something else to eat. Add another protein bar but try to divide it up into thirds as a small snack to get you over the hump. As each day gets better then drop back a little each time on the bar until you are back off it. Hope this helps.
Hi, and welcome to BOTT. I am also 13 years post-op, and dealing with issues directly related to my WLS. I post my foods daily, and also try to get my recumbent bike workout in every day, or at least 5 times per week. I eat low carb, no white foods (bread, flour, sugar, etc), low fat and mostly protein and non-starchy vegs. I don't count calories per se, because I have dieted long enough to know the basic cals in the foods I normally eat. I do watch what I eat, and don't do sweets nor fried foods (except for that luscious soft-shelled crab I had this past weekend). I don't call what I do "dieting"...I just eat the way I intend to eat from now on, even after the excess weight is gone.
I started my journey in 2000, weighing 344 lbs. My lowest weight was 167 (I always say for a hot 5 minutes), then I started gaining...not steadily, but through the years.
I joined BOTT on Feb 26 of this year, after being away from OH for several years. This was the best thing to ever happen since my surgery. I did the 5 Day pouch test to de-carb, and I have not looked back since. I weighed 238 lbs in Feb when I started, and I am now 204 lbs. I am aiming, tentatively, for 160, and then will probably aim for my original goal of 150.
The most important thing I can recommend to you is to take your supplements RELIGIOUSLY, as I now have osteoporosis due to the malabsorptive properties of my surgery, and not taking my meds seriously. This should not have happened. I am a nurse, and I know/knew better, but it is what it is at this point. My vitamin regimen looks a lot like what Tess posted, with a few variations due to my osteoporosis. I have had a spinal fracture of my lower back, and a possible fracture now in my upper spine which has not yet been determined.
I was once told by an orthopedic doc that "African-American women don't have to worry too much about osteoporosis, and if they get it, it's usually not so bad because your bones are more dense to begin with". Some of that is true, but I am an African-American woman who has had a WLS that can rob her of vitamins/minerals, and my osteoporosis is now so major that I cannot have needed surgery on my spine.
I hope you can find what you need here. All of the advice given so far is on point, and seems to work for that individual. I do what works for me, but YMMV. It helps, tremendously, to visit daily, and to post your eats for accountability if nothing else.
Wishing you the best!
