I notice this at the bottom of your post.  Question: I had TT and hernia repair in nov 2001.  I am wondering if I have another. also, what is aTT revision?

When they did my original tummy tuck it just went up and down and hip to hip and did not extend over my thigh area.  My PS thought I would get better results by doing this cut now and later on go back and have the butt and thigh lift and come all the way back around to remove any excess skin that may have fallen due to elasticity of the skin and remove any dog ears that remained.  Except for about 4 inches above my mons area, the PS cut me all the way around in April and I love my results.  I never thought I would look this good or have the results that I got.  I am very, very pleased.  As for the hernia, I had surgery in 2007 to repair a hernia with mesh and I had developed another one in 2012 that the general surgeon came in with my plastic surgery and repaired at the same time.  My PS said that the repair went so deep this time that I should not have any other trouble with it again unless I go into weight lifting and then I am on my own!

My TT also was up and down and hip to hip.  I have the little points on each side by the hips. Are those the dog ears?  The surgeon I had for the tt did my hernia at the same time.  He was a bariatric surgeon and not a PS maybe that is why. I also lost my belly button in that process.  I remember have such a hard time. It was an upside down T incison and I had 144 staples. He followed the sam incision going up and down as the orignian WLS.  He is not the same surgeon for the WLS.  This surgeon also is not doing WLS anymore and neither is the original surgeon I had for the gastric bypass. One was in kansas and the othr was in Oklahoma.

I think I have another hernia but not too sure. I know the upper part of my stomach area, about where the pouch would be is like a buldge of sorts. KIn do like an unevenness. I figured it was the pouch just stretched but someone mentioned to me that a hernia will do that also. Heck I don't know but I am sure whenever I get to see this new bariatric surgeron she can tell me more.  I am excited about going to see her and waiting for the appt.  thanks again for sharing!

Yep!  Those little points at the end are the dog ears.  Good luck at your next appointment.

Iron and calcium compete for absorption and when taken together calcium will get absorbed and iron would not. So make sure you take iron at least 2 hours away from calcium. Also - vitamin C is needed to absorb most iron - creates acidic environment.

I was told about about the vit C needs to be taken with the iron but I did not now the 2 hrs needed between the calcium and iron.  I assume you are talking about the calcium nitrate and/or vid D3?  Thanks again for the knowledge!

Yes. Calcium citrate.  The iron can't be absorb when taken together with calcium.  Makes our life "interesting" .. no?

Tess,

what if you can eat more than ever...not more than before the surgery...but more than a cup  how can teh "pouch" be there and not a big ole pouch that u ruined ?? I "broke it"

It is not broke.  I want you to eat only meat to check out your pouch.  Fix yourself two chicken breasts and see if you can eat both of these without any discomfort.  I bet you can't.  Your pouch has gotten use to slider foods and it can eat around those all day because they go into the pouch and right out into the intestines.  There is nothing there to hold them in the pouch.  Your not broken, you have just figured out how to eat around the pouch.  You have got to get off the carbs and go full protein to retrain your pouch and mindset.  You can do this!!!  Remember no drinking with meals until 30 minutes after you consume your meal.
