Back On Track Together
New kid on the block
Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in. I had a VSG in 2009, losing 140 lbs. I was doing very well until last summer, when I developed shingles in one of my nerves that runs through my back and side. It was incredibly painful to sit up, much less exercise. I was pretty much flat on my back for about three weeks, and I am still having some pain. Also, there has been long term impact on my circulatory system (the nerve enervated the part that "closes" up the system, and so they "leak"... my right leg is significantly larger than my left).
The weight started creeping back on, moving hurt, I wasn't doing much, so I ate more food and less quality food, and, then, of course, the weight crept back even faster. I gained back 56 lbs.
I had just started working out again when I developed another health problem that necessitated surgery, so that was another two months out of commission.
My doctor has given me the clearance to exercise again, so I've started.... kinda (two times a week). I did sign up for Weigh****chers, because it is a flexible program that will provide some accountability. I lost four pounds on week 1.
I've got to make this a priority to me. I've got to be more aware and focused about it, and I hope this group will be a part of that process.
Anyway, I hope to get to know all of you.
hi. I am on here. I don't post often, but I am here enough. Lots of support and lots of people with a lot of info.

Welcome aboard! I'm here every day, posting mostly at the end of the day. I've had some health issues also, but this group has helped immensely, and I have been in control since joining. Accountability, for me, has been one of the keys to my successful efforts so far, and I'm sure you may find it helpful to you as well. Looking forward to your posts and hope we can all be of help to one another :)
Welcome!! Nothing like this place to support one another. I will say for me, if you don't see me once a day, then I'm slipping! I did miss one day this week but I did post the reason I missed posting...but I didn't miss walking or logging my food! I do know that if I don't commit to posting every day about my progress or even lack of progress, I will soon be back to the old habits.
That said, here is my story in a quick condensed story. Had RYN 2006 dropped 100 lbs, then lost myself...until last year, when my grandchildren requested I stop smoking so...I did! 1 step at a time, stopped the smoking...made it a habit. Didn't worry about my food intake because I wanted to STOP smoking. Once it was a habit, I had gained 50 some lbs. Step 2, stopped the diet pepsi, again, didn't worry about eats/calories until it was a habit to not drink the drinks and only drink water. Then come 1/2013 I decided to watch what I eat, to eat more healthy but again, I didn'****ch the calories, I just made sure that what I ate was good food. The next step was 3/7/2013. I began to log my food, all my food and not go over 1300 calories per day. The final step was to get up in the morning at 4:45 AM and walk...just walk on my treadmill...for 30 minutes! I am still doing that...still getting up and walking first thing each day! I gave myself a new mantra and that is I am going to LIVE TO LIVE!!!
There's my story, I have lost 23 lbs since 3/7/2013 and plan to continue on at 1300 calories per day until I reach my goal! May be another year but that's ok because I know that I will be LIVING!!!
So, if you fall off don't beat yourself up because we have all fallen, just pick yourself up and continue to LIVE TO LIVE!
