Great idea to just go and stay overnight to avoid the morning rush, with great family bonding on the plus side!  That's one thing I miss about being married...little road trips with my husband.  We didn't do much traveling together...saving that for our later years which wasn't meant to be.  Still, I love to hear about couples getting away, with or without the kids, and I encourage my kids to do the same.  Hope you have a nice and relaxing time, Tess.

The only thing about family time is we always go somewhere really yummy to eat.  I am only as strong as the next cheesecake that I see.

That sounds like so much fun.  I would love to take a dancing class but my husband said I would have to find another partner.  I try to talk my son into it.  No luck yet.  Hope you have lots of fun at it.

I'm really not setting a good example by eating sweets but I want to be honest on here.  I don't recommend eating any sugar at all but I really struggle and have a lot of anxiety over trying to quit sugar (sounds crazy I know).  It is a goal that I hope to someday accomplish but at this point I'm at least keeping it controlled to no more than 20% of my daily calories and that is a great accomplishment for me since I used to think I needed a sweet treat several times every day.  Making progress is a good thing and I will keep working at it.

Baby steps will still get you where you are going just not as fast.  Relax and enjoy what you are accomplishing.

Hi Angela,

At least you're being accountable, you've set limits, AND you are being in control.  Honesty is crucial, IMO, to a group such as this.  We're all here because we took a misstep somewhere, and we're trying to gain control.  Help for all comes when you can admit you're not Superwoman/man, and that sometimes, we do misstep a little here and there.

I have been true to my new eating lifestyle since I started here, but there's a big reason and it's a reason that I know so well and it terrifies me. From my past, I KNOW that should I eat even one sugary treat, I WILL NOT return to clean eating for a while, and that can be anywhere from a few days to a few months.  I owe it all to my OCD, thank you very much (NOT!)

I've found many suitable substitutes for a lot of the foods I used to enjoy eating, but the key is finding that "happy medium" where I will be able to just "have a bite" and return to clean eating habits.  I haven't found that key yet, but I'm still looking :)
