I tell them at work (everyday) that they were a boring bunch of *%&ches before I got here.  We've got to get together sometime. We only live about an hour apart. I'm just over the stateline in Currituck County and I go to VA all the time ---if for no other reason than to get coffee beans from Trader Joes in Va Beach or Hampton.

Good morning Iris,

Just saw your post as I didn't get a chance to post anything else yesterday.  I'd love to meet you sometime.  I've never been to your neck of the woods, but you are definitely near me.  My nearest N.C. family is in Elizabeth City (during summer), otherwise they're in NY****il around May

We'll have to keep in touch.  Have a great day!

It is Monday. Beautiful day here also.  I am doing OK. I still end up with pain after I eat some dense proteins or even just solid foods.  But for now I will deal with that. I bought a lot of protein shakes (RTD) and some protein powder, and will eat 1-2 times a day.  Snacks - nuts - my body has no problem with. Meat or cheese, or even veggies - my belly get really pissy.   But - on a very good note - my RH is mostly under control.   I may get low BS once in a while... but for now - it is OK. I finally was able to get appointment with a brilliant endo doc here locally - in SC.    It took me 9 months on a waiting list to be able to see her, but now she is doing al the study she needs to figure out what is going on with me.

Initial blood work show that I don't have morning hypoglycemia, and that my fasting insulin level is very low.  But as I expected, it also show a very low level of cortisone and ACTH (the hormone that stimulates the adrenal).  To know what is going on with me - she subjected me to a very long "stress test" (insulin induced hypoglycemia) and we should get the results in a week or so.  They took so much blood during the test that I felt that they must have a vampire somewhere there - who needed all my blood. It was very long, very tiring test.

During the test we realized that my body become insulin resistant, and they had to give me more insulin.  Also - I realized that a full blown low BS symptoms I get when my BS drops below 40... before that - in low 60's - I did not feel much - if any. When my BS is in low -mid 50 - I start feeling weird... Funny weird...
The test itself show that I may be walking and driving with low BS, and not even know that.  My actions and reactions may be impaired and I may not even realized that.   Not cool.

On a good note - the insulin resistance show that when my I was given 12.5 units of insulin - my BS dropped initially - down to 65.. and then quickly recovered back to 85...   only a second dosage of 10 more unit allowed me to drop below 40...  But at the same time - after the test was done - and they got me up to 95... a shortly after my BS dropped again below 60...

My veins are bruised, my fingers tips were pocked more times that I could count.  But I may know what is going on with my body and I hope that I can deal with that. One symptoms of low cortisone is abdominal pain.  So maybe some of my belly pain is due to allergies and low cortisone.

BTW: hypoglycemia or RH may be due to low cortisone level.   Also low cortisone level may be due to long term RH - or Hypoglycemia.

on another good note: even at my BS levels at low 30's.. I was still able to reason, my memory was working, and I was conscious.   That shows that my body learn how to deal with low BS.

Eats are same as always:

Coffee + coconut milk, almonds or nuts
protein shake (with almond or coconut milk)
protein shake (with almond or coconut milk)
some food - maybe a small burger with cucumber or pickles. (no bun)
soup or yogurt with proteins
dinner: egg frittata with some veggies and cheese.

snack: power crunch bar... (if I really have to)

snack: nuts or sunflower seeds

I am so glad that you finally got to see the specialist that you have been wanting.  Hopefully with all the testing they will be able to figure out the problem with the pain issue.  Low blood sugar is definitely something that we all don't need to play with.  None of us need to be blacking out while driving.  Take care and keep us posted on what is happening.

I was wondering if I should post that - but with so many people dealing with low BS - if that info helps just one person - it would be worth mentioning.
