Back On Track Together
Serenity Sunday
Ok...I did have a lot of sasiness yesterday, but I wouldn't say I was paying for it today, It is a serene Sunday though. I laid in bed much longer than I should have and I did not get up and jump on the treadmill as I usually do. I took the time to have a cupa joe and reflected on my progress.
Last March, I smoked the last cigarette. I did have the help of Chantrix. Without that little pill, I would have struggled for many months. My children and grandchildren are thrilled, I no longer cough my head off and they do not worry as much about me. July was the month I switched from Diet Pepsi to Crystal Lite which believe it or not assisted with my breathing! I never imagined that the carbonated beverage messed with my breathing but it did. August, I stopped the Crystal Lite and now only drink water. No more bloat for me...lol Water has assisted with the gas problem I had since I had surgery too Amazing..the difference the simple changes make. Of course while doing all this, I did gain lots of weight. I'm not even sure where I ended up before January 2013. January I just began to eat better food! I didn't log, I didn't measure. I just ain't better foods and as much as I wanted. If we had steak I ate the whole thing! All food was either baked, broiled or grilled. No more fried, This March, since I was no longer a fried food junkie, I was ready to finally concentrate on being totally healthy! 1300 calories per day for me and it is paying off and it hasn't been a struggle since I had already given up the fried foods and carbs that make me want to eat! April is the month of movement! I now get up every morning and walk! That has given me so much more energy!! My husband is thrilled!! He can see th difference in my attitude daily! Says he almost has the old Debra back! I will be back, but it won't be the old Debra, I will be the new and improved Debra! The Debra that can move, can walk and can wrestle with the grandkids!
Now, are you wondering if I did my walking??? YES! I walked for 30 minutes, sat in the hot tub afterwards and then went in and made my morning banana peach yogurt flax seed smoothie. Just finishing it while posting here. I'll have a salad with tuna and low fat ranch dressing with an apple/celery for snacks. Dinner will depend on what my husband cooks..either chicken or steak...but I only eat a 3 oz portion with a veggie. I always save room for my "treat" each nite at bedtime, 4 little crackers and 2 oz of colby cheese. (that's how I pamper myself each nite)
I am back on track and I will stay on track in part because of OH forums, and in part because I am determined! Have a great day!!!!!
Thanks for sharing how you've changed your focus each month. It's overwhelming to try and look at the whole picture but when you break it down into do-able steps....well it's do-able. Congratulations on the New & Improved Debra!!!!
