Officially Back on Track!

I am 10 years post op RNY.  I went back to school last year full time.  I was at 187 in April and am now all the way back up to 225.  I quit exercising the past semester.  I told myself that I needed to devote my time to studying and let myself be lazy.  Well I am not waiting until the start of the new year or semester, I am starting now!  I am going to get myself into a new routine that includes eating right, exercising, drinking more water and less Diet Pepsi, and getting in all of my protein.  I had my family Christmas party tonight and kept having to make sure my shirt was pulled down and not showing my bottom.  This was not a problem I had at a healthier weight!  It was so embarrassing!

Hope everyone is having a healthy and happy holiday season!

Stephanie,

Same here!

I just happen to review my 2011 calendar and last year this time I was 7 pounds lighter.  Today, I am 219.5 pounds and so not happy.  I, too have gone back to school and figured out that since I am currently working full and taken a full load of Master classes online, I fail to eat right in the evening and had stopped exercising this past July.  I am up 41.5 pounds from my steady weight.  I had the RNY done July 2000.

I have to get back in control.  My 30th class reunion is this coming summer 2013 and I want to get back to where I was.  I graduated 1983 at my current weight at the age of 17.  And gained to 325 pounds prior to my surgery in 2000.

Early this year I tracking my eatting, exercising, drinking the water and got down to 193#.  So, I am going BOT for the third time this year and know I have the motivation...class reunion.

School and full time work can be a killer! I am in the same boat, snacking during class to stay awake, same while doing homework, and then add in the venti decaf soy lattes and my weight went whoosh up that scale! And in record time. It is hard to push reset, but it can be done.  Right now I am focused on no drinking within 30 minutes of eating.  It helps because I have to stop and think, do I want to drink or eat.  It's just a good awareness trigger for me.  I also bring some study notes while I ride the recumbent bike, I switched  to drinking tea during class and I am still fighting the latte craving as I love those damn things but dairy can pack the lbs on for me.  Meal planning helps, if it isn't in my bag I shouldn't be eating it!  Good luck, post your eats here, maybe we can help with ideas.  I found my dietitian not very helpful, I took more ideas from here.

When I read your posts I wonder if I should continue on without any further surgery or procedures.  Maybe counting those calories and getting to the gym everyday would be enough.

Also the therapist told me to make a list of things to do and I find my daily to do list is very helpful.  I am getting more done as well.

When I talk to people who are thinking about surgery or new post ops, they really think their surgery is going to make them lose weight like the top 20% of the statistics and keep weight off permanently.  Then I think 80% of people think they have an above average IQs as well.
