Hi! I am 8 years post op. I have had a large regain. I've gained back 94 of the 135 pounds that I've lost. I'm very discouraged and upset about it. I was back to see my surgeon to try to get back on track. This is the plan he wants me to follow till I lose 50 pounds:
Breakfast - protein drink
snack - small amount of protein like a string cheese
Lunch - 3 oz of protein (shrimp, chicken breast) w/ 1/2 cup greens or 2 eggs & spinach omelet
snack - protein shake
Dinner - same as lunch
snack - same as morning snack
Wowza...that seems so small to me! He said after I lose 50 pounds we would adjust it to allow more foods. It just seems super strict. Those of you that are farther out... does this seem normal to you? Doable? He told me that he wouldn't start eating any fruit again till I'm within 10 pounds of goal.

Hi Lilly:
This is doeable but only it you are ready to commit to it. I had a regain of 70 lbs. and have lost 69 lbs. of it since last May (9 months). It does take great commitment but it is so worth it. Don't look at it as I have 94 lbs. to lose. Look at it as I have 10 lbs. to lose and set mini goals so that they are achieveable. Don't drink with your meals and wait 30 minutes afterwards before you do. Keep your proteins up between 80-100 grams, keep your carbs below 100 net, starting out, keep your calories around 800 and work your way up to 1200 toward the end of your weight lost. Journal everything that you eat and be accountable to it. Find a exercise that you like and do it for 30 minutes a day and work up toward 1 hour. (I walk 1 hour a day). If you are not taking your vitamins daily go get your labs done and see if you are deficient in anything and start taking them daily. Drink lots of fluids to keep your system hydrated and flushed out. Come here daily and lurk or post and let us know how you are doing. You can do this but it will not be over night but you could be back at goal within the year. Welcome aboard.

Hi Lilly,
Yes, it can be done! I'm 11 yrs out and had a major regain after 5 or 6 yrs. I got lazy and ate anything that I wanted. Once I found BOTT, I was able to pull my self together. The plan that your dr. wants you to follow is similar to "the basics". You need to get your brain ready to follow the plan, or it's not going to work. I did it, Tess did it, as well as many others.
You CAN do this too!

I am going through the same thing, only I'm 5 yrs out with a gain of 30 lbs. I've lost 7 lbs since Jan 2. It's a slooooooowwwww thing but I'm determined. I'm logging everything that I eat. Some days I stay below 800 and some a little over. I haven't started exercising yet. I believe that will be the turning point for me. I have really been careful about my drinking during my meals. It's like starting all over again. It's been quite a while since I've been here. I'm glad to be back. I actually feel better that I'm eating like I'm supposed to eat.
Lilly, we can do this! We just have to hang in there with it. I have an I-Phone App. called Lose It. There's also one called "My fitness plan". I like Lose it because I can bar scan the items that I eat if they have a UPC code.. There's also a way to track what certain resturants have.
Hang in there! I never totally lost to my goal. My goal is 50 lbs. We just have to keep coming back!
