Back On Track Together
Bride to be Challenge
Hi everyone!
I had Sleeve surgery done in 2/2006....lost 80 lbs (I was considered a lightweight..yeah right) I was 10 lbs away from goal and I started messing up, I've gained close to 50 lbs and I'm getting married in 13 weeks! OMG!! Is it possible to lost at least 40 lbs by then?! Help! This is what I plan to do:
The next 3 days: All liquids / 72 oz of water / 30 min of hard cardio (incline on treadmill)
After that; have 2 protein shakes a day, and have only 1 MEAL consisting of protein & veggies...
For snack: S/F jello, crystal lite, maybe 1 mozzarella stick...
What do you guys think? All suggestions greatly appreciated... Thank you!
CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming wedding!! What an exciting time!!!
First of all, the photo of you in your avatar? Gorgeous! Second of all...can you lose 40 lbs. in 13 weeks? Maybe. Should you? I don't think so.
You probably know all this already but, this far from your surgery (we had our surgeries just one month apart from each other!) it is VERY hard to lose weight like we used to. And I fear that if you do what you need to do to drop that kind of weight in the next 13 weeks, once you let up, you will gain it back. Your wedding is not the "end point"...it is just another beautiful stop on this long journey.
I am no expert...TRUST me...but I would recommend maybe doing the 5-Day pouch test...OR the protein buster diet for a week or 10 days. Then just keep it low carb. You CAN safely lose about 26-30 lbs in 13 weeks...and still be able to maintain it.
I have information on both the diets I listed above...so let me know if you you need anything!
Congratulations again!!

Good morning and thank you! If you don't mind, can u give me the info on the protein buster diet? (never heard of it)....and you're absolutely right, we can't lose like when we first had the surgery :( also, this liquid diet is very hard....I worked out this morning on my tread for 35 minutes and so far had coffee with splenda......
Have a blessed day, and thanks again!
Yes, I still have the Protein buster diet (actually called the Plateau Buster diet...used to break plateaus. I have used it over the past several years to get back on track). There are actually now two versions (I just learned this recently). I have never done the one that included fruits/vegetables (version 2) but you can take your pick.
Here it is:
Plateau Buster Diet, Version I
How to break a plateau
#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau
#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day
#3 - You must have 45 grams of protein and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day
#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day
beef
pork
chicken
turkey
lamb
fish
eggs
low fat cheese
cottage cheese
plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?)
peanut butter
beans/legumes
You may also have:
sugar free popsicles
tea or coffee
sugar free soda
sugar free jello
broths/bullion (sp?)
crystal light drinks
#5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!!
#6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily
Plateau Buster Diet, Version II with fruits and veggies added.
#1 Do for 10 days to break plateau

& mineral supplements each day.

#6 IF IT IS NOT ON THE LIST YOU MAY NOT HAVE IT!

Yes!! The liquid diet days are VERY hard. I was starving, miserable and VERY cranky! But it will be worth it in the end...so keep your eye on the prize!
Good luck!!

But - why don't you think about the size you want to be... (since if you add muscles yo may get smaller and looking better - but you may be a bit heavier. )
then there is food. I do not believe it is realistic. 2 shakes + 1 meal? hardy enough... If you do not give your body enough - you not only may not lose it all - but also may be really prone to get all the diet - once your body get really depleted. 13 weeks is Long time to be on such a severe restriction. And once you resume your "normal" diet on your honeymoon - you may find yourself back with extra 20 lbs in 2-4 weeks. And protein shake - can have many calories. So watch for what yo put in it.
Here what I would do:
1. I would decarb for 5-7 days to start with. The easier for me would be to follow a lower fat Atkins diet - the induction, or a Dukan http://www.dukandiet.com/ diet... Eat often - but smaller amounts. Use little cream with coffee (if you use) instead of milk. (make sure it is same calories) Milk = sugar - stimulates appetite, half and half - less sugar - some fat - fat=good feel - body things you ate. (I use unsweet almond milk or unsweet coconut milk - not from a can)
2. make sure you have 5-6 small meals per day. Some of them can be protein shakes (make sure that they have some carbs -some fat and proteins).
3. 13 weeks = almost 3 months - allow one or 2 day a month for more relax eating day - you may be surprised, but that day you may actually see a weight loss more than not. But limit to "good food" just maybe a little more - i.e. 2-3 cheese sticks vs one. extra protein bar, NSA ice cream (1-2), extra piece of fruit..., bacon,.... etc.
Don't limit veggies that are on "free food list" (green lettuce, greens - kale- i.e. kale chips, pickles (with no sugar), cucumbers, mushrooms, etc.) Add fresh lemon, or vinegar and little bit of oil - or butter (we need fat to assimilate the vitamins and help digesting the veggies - not too much but some is needed).
Watch for food - drinks that makes you really hungry after you eat - drink. For me that is diet soda, SF desserts, chewing gum, etc.
Avoid alcohol - not only it has extra-empty calories - but also may stimulate appetite. (but one serving of good glass or dry wine - may be a legal cheat - on the "free" day - if that is what your choice is).
Getting ready for the wedding - stressful - decide how you are going to deal with the stress- very day day: i.e. buy very good -(and expensive...lol) bath salts and body oil /butter that you will use instead of food/ drink on a day that you get so stressed that you need a pick-me up.
I have that - together with a special bottle of my favorite perfume that I use as a distressor during the day (I carry a small bottle in my purse and use that on me - and I breathe that in while trying to relax and thing why do I do what i do... - I use mix of organic essential oils...special blend)
and so on...
