CARBS GOOD OR BAD

I AM VERY CONFUSED ABOUT CARBS...I JUST ORDERED SOME QUEST BARS ARE THESE REPLACEMENT?
I LEARNED BY READING THAT OUR CARB INTAKE ( FOR WEIGHT LOSS) WILL DEPEND ON THE PERSON ... OTHER SITES SAY EAT LESS THAN 100 IS THAT NET CARBS...?
CURRENTLY I AM AT 211 LBS  39 YRS AND 5'10 ISH.... I WANT TO BE AT 175/ 180

HELP  HOW MANY CARBS SHOULD I EAT  I AM HIT AND MISS ON THE EXERCISE...I TRY TO GO IN EVERY DAY AND DO AT LEAST 30 MIN OF CARDIO ( MY TIME IS LIMITED) 

I WANT TO FOLLOW A LOW CARB DIET WITH OUT CUTTING OUT GOOD CARBS...
ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE?

When I was just starting back on the basics, I kept my net carbs at 50 or below.  I now keep them at 100 net carbs or less.  On an average, they stay around 70 net carbs.  My protein has been around 80-90 grams.  This has really help me get back on track and lose the regain.

soo...this morning i had coffee and later after work out a quest protein bar ...soo my net carbs are at 12.. i want to eat 5-6 small meals a day...how in the world do u do that ( 50 net carbs )wtih vegies?  did you keep a journal of what and how much you ate u could share?

 I only eat 1 vegetable and 1 fruit a day.  I am pretty much protein up during the week, I may eat an extra veggie on the weekend.  My food changes rarely so go look back on the cardio and cafe thread and you will see what I have been eating everyday.

TODAY AFTER I ATE THE QUEST BAR...I GOT REALLY SLEEPY....AND A BAD HEAD ACHE..DO YOU THINK THIS WAS THE BAR...ALSO I JUST FELT REALLY CRUMMY...I DRANK SOME WATER AND TOOK TYLENOL...STARTED TO FEEL A LITTLE BETTER AND THEN ABOUT 10 I ATE COTTAGE CHEESE...I FEEL FINE NOW...DID I DUMP ON THE BAR?

That would be an indication for me.   Too many carbs - I get so  tired... 
Next time - try 1/2 bar.   Some carbs get into us so fast... and our body reacts to that.  Mine does.
But - we are all different... and we will react differently to different foods.

And even similar foods - can affect us differently - i.e. I can eat grapefruits, or clementines, or tangerines... but orange - not so much. Affect my BS really badly.  It doe snot make sense.. but it does. 
Also- carbs on empty pouch - first thing in the morning - affect me worse that later after I ate some proteins, and other "stuff".

thanks a bunch...tonight for "desert" i will try again...and maybe i will stick to my protein shake after work out...lol  I am horible about not paying attention to my body's signals...i have always eaten what i wanted...really the only thing that ever "hurt" was ice cream and pasta...i dump on it...but if i wanted it bad enough i ate it...and paid the price for it...
i know i should not have waited 3 yrs out to decide to eat right..and listen to my body...BUT i am here....and enjoying learning...it's like a light is going off in my head...thanks so much

I honestly do not count the carbs in green leafy veggies, and some that are mainly water. (like cucumbers). So anything like celery, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, any dark greens - like kale - the carbs will not really affect anything.  (except the gas). But things that are starchy - anything starchy - I am very careful with. BTW: tomato and onions have a lot of sugar.  So be careful with that.
When I am losing weight - I do try to limit any starchy - or with sugar veggies - fruits, and limit my fruits to some that have lots of fiber... and are known not to affect my blood sugar: mainly - berries. 
But things like potatoes, rice, grains, oatmeal, bread, bananas, melons, grapes, etc. are on my no-no list.  They either have too many sugars - or they turn into sugar the moment you start chewing them. (enzymes in saliva). 
I do get a lot of veggies, some (1-2 serving fruits) and so on. 

My body is supper sensitive to carbs - some people are - some not so much.  I developed reactive Hypoglycemia after RNY (was not diabetic before) and mu body makes too much insulin when I eat carbs that are sugar or turn into sugar.   Too much insulin will make us store fat and prevent burning fat... 

by trial and errors - I found out which food affects my blood sugar and try to stay away from it or really limit that, and even if I have any - I make sure I have that with proteins and fat.

I thought oatmeal was a good carb?
