For Fun! What do you do now that you could not do before WLS

Tess I took this idea from your profile page - hope you don't mind.

What is something you have done or plan on doing since WLS  that you would never attempt before WLS?

I was 45 when I had my WLS in 2005 and would work the concession stand for the high school football games.  Standing on my feet just for a couple hours - when I got home I thought I was dying......really.......I hurt all over so bad and sort of breathe.  Since WLS have rode 2 roller coasters and now at age 52 planning an overnight lock-in and fasting with a group of teenagers.  In April we are participating in the "30 hr. famine".  But I will be taking my air-mattress   And the fasting won't be as hard on me as it will them........thanks to WLS.    some how it doesn't seem fair.....but they will survive.

Have a blessed day!

Janet,
It's been 11 yrs., so honestly I can't remember that far back.  But I was shocked yesterday when a friend was showing pictures of her birthday party this past weekend.  I had to do a double look, I almost didn't recognize myself.  I never liked to have pictures of myself, even after my surgery, unless it was my kid's wedding, which were 6 yrs. ago.   But these were casual pictures.  I was really surprised!

Hi Janet:

After I lost all my weight the first time, I flew to Fargo, ND and I never would have done that.  My daughter went there for a 12 week summer program at the University.  I had to change planes and I never would have made all the running at 306 lbs.

This time, I am flying to New York City with my daughter, for a wedding and going to see "Wicked" at the Gershwin Theatre.  We have lots of running around for 5 days while we will be there.  I am really looking forward to being in shape for this.

On your 30 hr famine, please take some protein bars with you because of your surgery, you may experience a sudden drop in your sugar and you will have to have something pretty quick.  Other than that, it sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi Tess,

I do have problems with sugar lows and actually  thought about that.  I have the unjury strawberry sorbet that I plan on taking with me.  Thanks for thinking about that!  I can't wait!

Have a blessed day!

Hi Janet:

I love your new avatar!  I just realized that you and I are about the same age.  (30ish right?) Ha.  Any hoo, just wanted to comment on your new pic.  Looking good.

Sometimes wish 30ish - but I am happy to say 52.    Maybe be 30ish and know what I do now.

Have a blessed day!

Fasting - sorry - can't do.  "I used-to-could"  (as they say in SC) You are lucky... if I do not eat - I crash... low BS... like yesterday... grrr....  Please watch for that

Think that I can do now - is wear boots and high heels.. Feel funny in flats.

Can buy most of my clothes in thrift stores or on sale... and look good in them. (I had to buy high end dept store clothes to look good in them). So now I have 3-4 closets of clothes that fit and look good on me..

Can walk fast (even in high heels) and standing all day does not feel like dying anymore.

Can do so many other things...

I read this post earlier today but I didn't have time to respond. This very afternoon I went to the park and played with my 4 year old son. We played on the slides and swings. He thought it was hilarious that I was up there with him. My big fat ass wouldn't have fit up there a couple years ago. Now I can keep up with my kiddos.

Isn't that so neat. The first time I rode a roller coaster after losing the weight was with my son. He gave me hug and said how excited he was to ride the coaster with me and he was in high school. I rode 2 with him and that was all I could do for one day.
Have a blessed day!
