Back On Track Together
Help I need support from a fellow RNY !!!!
You are starting in the right direction. Just detoxing off of sugar, potatoes, flour, (sweets and bread) will be a real eye opener. Go back to basics, no drinking with meals and/or at least 30 minutes after meals. No white carbs, go heavy on the proteins, low on the carbs, find some type of exercise that you like or at least can tolerate and come here and journal your food everyday. It will really keep you on track. You can journal the good, the bad and the ugly. We will not be harsh and will offer you support to help you get back on track. Starting off, try to plan your meals each day and try to keep your calories under 1000 to give you the push to jump start you. Don't forget to take your vitamins and drink your fluids. Sometimes, I think this is a given but some people do not do this and it will affect them at some point. If you have not had your labs checked lately, that is an excellent place to start. If I can be of any help to you, please let me know. We have a wonderful group of people here that will offer you lots of support. We are glad you came.
Some people start by de-carbing.
Using mostly proteins and no sugar and carbs only from non-starchy veggies. Initailly itsi hard - but once you get over first few days (headaches possible) it gets easier.
The high carbs - starchy carbs - and simple sugars - create high and low blood sugar and is not only addictive (IMO) but also doe snot allo us to make good choices.
Reminder: milk has more carbs - sugars than proteins. so when you make shakes - remember that. 8 oz of milk has 12 gr of sugar and only 8 gr of proteins. I do use unsweeten almond milk as substitute.

You are so right..i feel good already it was a tough day but I did it..my snacks were boiled eggs with red hot...and pickels for that crunch..no sugar or flour..which is amazing because I've been on a baking craz since the holidays..but no more its my time to feel good again..took my doggies for a walk today..thanks for the support..Hugs Des
I have recently found the best tasting protein meal replacement shake out there.. Wish I would have had it back in 2003 when I had my gastic by-pass. Body By Vi, it is low in sugar, low carb, and lactose free and you make it with almond milk. I am now lactose intolerant after the surgery, so I finally get to enjoy shakes again.. Check it out at rodgertaylor.bodybyvi.com. This sure would have made my post surgery recovery easier. Plus it has helped me lose weight since the holidays.

Sorry to hear you can't digest soy.. I am also a RNY, but guess that me and my friend our expections, thank goodness.. I really believe sometimes, it's the way the surgeron does things that causes us to be like we are. We both had the same dr.
Hang in there, you are doing great!!! The surgery really has changed my life. Hopefully soon, I can figure out how to get my pics small enough to load up.
