Ghrelin is the hormone that causes hunger.  Without most of our stomachs active we should make less ghrelin regardless of our differences in our surgeries or how we've changed the farther out from surgery we get.  This is an old study with only a few people.  When you look at the post diet graph of people, notice that the obese people make less ghrelin than the normal people did.  Do obese people have fewer receptors or are there receptors more sensitive?  Also insulin causes hunger and when we eat carbs our insulin increases.  The simpler the carb the faster it is absorbed and the faster our insulin level goes up.  Also there is an endorphin release when we eat or think about food.  If we don't give into our cravings though, endorphines decrease or the receptors decrease (I can't remember) but the point is they get more managable.  Hopefully, this helps with meal planning.  Just me

Good Article.  I know I am less hungry when I eat more protein and less carb, but I may be screwed on those endorphines if they kick up when you think of food.  I can control what goes into my mouth but not the thoughts in my head....

I do find that when I think or talk too much about food, I overeat.  However when busy or doing something besides reading or tv, I can forget about eating and until I see food or its talked about go without.  The body and mind are awesome tools.  I'm just tryin to get a handle on them both.
