Newbie desperately needing to get BOT!

Hi! Thanks for allowing me to be part of your group. I am one month away from my year 3 anniversary. I can't believe how long its been. I also can't believe how easy it is to get derailed when I was doing so awesome. I got to my goal weight of 140 in less than a year. I maintained that mostly for almost 2 (up and down the same 6 or 7 pounds). Then I started to abandon my "plan" little by little and weight is creeping on. In actuality, 140 is probably not a good maintenance weight for me. Probably more like 150 (I'm rather muscular and at 150 I was a size 4/6). Last time I weighed myself (about 6 months ago) I was 159. I finally got courage to step on the scale today and I was 165. Holy cow! Needless to say, I started yesterday back to my post-op plan. I've been lurking on your posts and got lots of helpful info. So ready or not (actually I am SO ready)...here I go!

 Hi Jonelle,

We are so glad you are here.  You hit the nail on the head, we slowly move away from all the life changes that got us to goal and stay at goal and before we know it, we have gained.  Read the docs we have on the main board and make notes of what you need to do to get back on track and take it one step at a time. Maybe replace one bad habit with a good one and before you know it you will be BACK ON TRACK!

We are here for you!

Don't forget to be accountable with your food and exercise in our Cafe and Cardio thread daily.

Take care,
Kathy

Thanks. I have been reading your lists and hints yesterday and have started to put it into play (2 whole days now). One of my issues is alcohol. Never had an issue with it before but due to some stressful life events I have been overindulging for the past several months. I am 2 days without a drink and I have made the decision to go back to my old drinking ways (a drink or two at an occasion or event). I think that will help. I am logging every bite that goes in my mouth now and making myself accountable again. It is so easy to say "oh I didn't eat that much" if I don't log it. I will check out the cafe & cardio thread too.

Thanks again for the support. I think I need to go update my health ticker...haha.

There is a lot of data that says we replace one addiction with another.  It shows how strong you are to say enough is enough and you are getting back to being as healthy as you can for your family but most importantly you!!!!

We are here to do it together...

Jobell,
It's good that you realized that you're heading in the wrong direction, and are doing something now to stop.  We're all here for the same reason, and like Kathy said there's a lot of info on the boards about transfer addictions.  If you're having a problem,  reach out, someone's always around to get you through.  You know what you have to do, go back to basics and get some exercise.
You CAN do this!!!

Hi Jonelle,
Good for you for getting back on track! I'm just over 3 years out, and like you I maintained pretty well for a while. I think I became overly confident, thinking I was imune to weight gain. In the past year I've gained about 10-15 pounds. I enjoy a glass of wine here and there but the amount and frequency has been creeping up and I need to nip it in the bud. I'm getting back to basics with food choices and regular workouts, and I am making a vow to return to more sensible moderation with the wine. I don't think I'm anywhere near the addiction level, but I can definitely see how easy it would be for that to happen. I know for me there are some personal issues that are creating emotional turmoil, and I need to re-focus on better ways of handling that instead of turninng to food and/or wine.
All the best to you,
Joanne
