Back On Track Together
Back from vacation... (XP)
Happy New Year everyone... See the board was active... - at least some...
Back to reality for me. The vacation was wonderful. I went on a cruise with my BF and some of his family. It was 7 days Carnival Cruise. The new ship – Carnival Dream.
Well, either we are horrible spoiled, or like with everything- everybody is trying to cut costs, but I was not impressed with the cruise. I had been on cruises before, and this one was… not so good. I and my travel group – we felt the ship was really ugly inside. Not sure who design it – but the inside colors were horrible. Very 50’s with some glitter, lots of “gold colorÂ" finish… etc. The food was also not too good. The buffet was mostly cold (hot foods that should have been hot) and some items were really horrible. I could not eat that.
But we had a nice balcony cabin, with a lot of space inside and good housekeeping. But again – they did not change sheets the whole 7 day trip.
We stopped at 4 ports and did some sightseeing. That was OK. The stops were Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan (by Honduras) and Costa Maya. We did some intro scuba, some sightseeing, went to the beach, etc.
I spent all this time with my BF. We were together almost 24 hrs every day. There were couple of days that he went on his own for 30 min.
I did not gained or lost weight. We were active while on the cruise, we did not eat junk food, the other food was not as good as if could have been, so there were no seconds. And many times – we could not even finish the “firstÂ".
And since the average person gains 10 lbs on a cruise, and we did not. I feel sorry for the next 2 people who had to gain 20 lbs each to help us meet the “10 lb averageÂ". Lol..
And I do believe some did… The ice cream, and other junk food that was on a ship, the desserts, were a highlight for many people…. And the same people would not use stairs and usually you could see them "parked" close to the buffet. Adults, children... I felt sad looking at them. But I also know - I was "them" in the past.

We missed you! Glad you had quality time with the BF but sorry that the cruise wasn't everything that it was hyped up to be. I always wanted to go on a cruise but hubby saids he not sailing on the open sea...Since I don't fly across the water, I am never going to get to see Hawaii. I did good over the holidays too, I lost 2 lbs. so I am very excited about that. We do have some new folks and some old folks back from the past joining us now. We should have a great January of posting!!
I probably lost some inches, due to activities. And got sick after I got back (just now) so next few days will be really low volume diet.
Fighting a cold or some sort of infection ( and winning) will make me lose some weight.
But than again - I do not want - or need to lose any. I do look and feel good when I am at this weight. At my age - too skinny - is not as attractive, or comfortable (the skinny butt - pain while sitting phenomena)
But - maintaining - is a trick on its own. That is the goal for me this year. Add exercise without gaining or losing weight. The walking on stairs made me feel it in my legs. But both, I and my BF were able to get from level 0 to 9 (where our cabin was) without stopping.

Hi Hala-
I checked out your ship on line. We have 8 degrees this morning so that aqua water looks wonderful to me. I feel sad for super morbidly obese people on cruises as well...been there and done that! Even with my weight gain I have been able to keep 70 lbs. off for 10 years now. I never want to go back there. I refuse to eat at the buffets on cruises because that was the way I used to eat and never again will I do that to myself. I haven't been to an "all you can eat" since 2002. I always sit down in the restaurant and order. I would even take McDonald's over an all you can eat!
Congratulations on not gaining...moving more really helps burn those calories. And of course....welcome back!
Just me
Glad to have you back, Raynetta
Hey babe... I am on modified Atkins since forever. Fruits are my most carb "sins".. but only the low glycemic. Good fat is good.
Glad you are on here. Was thinking about you....
