I know how you feel. I have problems sleeping so I usually wake up between 2 and 3 am. I make my coffee and after an hour or so, am looking for something to eat. The one thing that I did before that helped me before, was making a day's worth of vanilla protein drink. This way, I could add any type of pudding mix or s.f. caramel to each glass for a different drink througout the day. While this isn't crunchy or chewy, it will help get you satisfied to work through that time span of "wanting something, fast", and slowly change those cravings. I hope that this helps with those "head munchies"!

I should drink more shakes.

I need something crunchy and quick sometimes and I get the mini Biscotti from Bari Wise. I get them from Diet Direct and they are yummy with only 15 calories a piece and 1 gram of protein. They are kinda expensive at $7.99 a bag for 20 but are so worth it to me. I also buy some of the Kay Products crunchy chips at 140 calories a bag and 10 grams of protein. Raw vegetables and I do not get along very well but you may be better with them. Just some food for thought.
I can eat carrots, broccoli, asparagus, celery. the rest generally give me the foamies.

I too have the same issues and what I found worked for me was eating protein often through out the day. I found if I did that I would not have those nasty cravings at night. It may take awhile to get the sugar/carb cravings out of your body but this will help big time. Also find something to do to take your mind off eating. Part of this is head hunger also.
If you live where it's nice take a walk, bike ride. If not, put on some music and dance, dance, dance.
Please when thi****s eat! Yes I said eat.... but make it something like an apple with almond butter or greek yogurt with SF syrup, fruit and if you need crunch some natural granola.
Try these and if they don't help came back and we will find a plan B
Take care,
Kathy

as for excersize. technically I am in the tropics, and I should be able to go out for a walk, however. like I said. it does take a concerted effort to do it, finding me time was never my strong suit. there are 5 kids, 2 spouses, 2 grand kids, one on the way next month and if each one only needed 1on1 time for an hour a day, well that would leave me 4 to sleep. it is a crazy life style to be sure.
the most challenging part of post op for me was not eating or not eating, but what to eat. anything with dairy with the exception of string cheese gives me the worst dumping. not even an ounce of milk on cereal if I want to stay vertical. so no 'smoothies' as everyone talks about in my future. no granola that sends my glucose through the roof. definitely loved but can not eat the greek yogurt.
safe choices:
lentils
black eyed peas
black beans
egg

flakey salmon burger
asparagus / alfredo
broccoli / alfredo

celery / cream cheese
apples / pbutter
dried veggie chips
I was really happy with the black eyed peas 'pop' yesterday, they have a good chew to them, much better than the mush of the pinto. so glad I tried them.
