Is it possible to have protein be too high?

I guess it depends on your range, with vsg and eating protein first, i tend to eat mostly protein 3 ounces of dense protein and im full.. i alway try to aim for the min of 70 grams up to 100 grams..

yes. It is possible., Too many of anything are not good.
Proteins have a lot of byproducts when the body using them for energy. May be really hard on kidneys, liver, and other organs.

Try to modify the diet to add fat... Once you reach enough proteins - get some fat-

I.e. my body works well on low carbs (50), high proteins (100-150)... but that leaves some calories that I need... to get 1200 cal per day... adding healthy fats (butter, olives, nuts, avocado, seeds, etc.) Helps me stay on track with not too many proteins. Fat is easy for the body to burn and helps with BM...
50 carbs=200 cal
120 proteins = 500calories
that leaves 400-500 calories as fat = 90 gr of fat...

i.e. a small portion of 85% chocolate will have 10-20 gr of fat... so easy to do... lol...
