Five Day Pouch Test?

Good Morning,

I was reading through the boards this morning about the 5 day pouch test.  Has anyone done this?  Any thoughts on it?   Results?

Being 8 years out, the thought of getting the post-op feeling of restriction back sounds appealing...

I have done it twice.  Basically, you are decarbing to get you back on track.  I did only shakes and protein pudding the first two days.  I added tuna on the third day, chicken on the fourth day and beef on the fifth day for one meal a day, the rest was shakes and pudding.  After the five days of resetting, you are ready to get back to eating a low carb, high protein and low fat diet.  The first time I did the five day, I lost 6 lbs.  The second time, only 2 lb.  I hope this help you.

Thanks Tess...  BTW, what is "protein pudding"?  I've seen this referenced a couple of times.

Also, did the feeling of tightness in the pouch return?

You do get a moment of feeling that your pouch is tight again but if you go back to pushing the envelope on food that feeling is short lived.  I make my protein pudding with Vanilla Unjury powder and SF/FF Jello instant pudding.  2 cups 1% milk, 1 pkg. jello pudding, 2 scoops of powder.  Mix it just like you were making regular pudding.  This makes 4 serving and with a spoonful of FF/SF cool whip on top the calories are 140 with 14.5 grams of protein.  To do chocolate pudding, I use unjury chocolate powder and jello milk chocolate pudding.

Thank you.   Back home from hospital.  I think I will give the 5 day pouch test a try.

Although, I make my Unjury Shakes w/ skim milk so I think my carbs will add up quickly... Probably still less carbs than my "normal" diet.

Have a great day!

You could try your shakes with almond milk.  It doesn't have as much protein as skim milk, but the carbs overall are much lower.

Great suggestion!  I will try.  I actually bought some earlier in the week but have not yet tried...
