Hi Botts,

Less than a wee****il the little tricker treaters will ring that door bell.  I still dump on oil/grease but not sugar.  So candy can be an issue for me.  How do you keep from eating Halloween Candy?

1.)     Buy only candy I don't like (yes there are some I don't like LOL)
2.)     Buy sugarless gum
3.)     Have spouse to give our candy
4.)     Have spouse hide candy until 10/31
5.)     Make sure you give out all candy
6.)     If you have left overs give to neighbor kids that night

If you work in an office then you have to deal with all the left over candy that is brought in. Make sure it's far way from  you if you can control that. Also take lots of high protein snacks you can nibble on when office co-workers are eating candy.

Shhhhhhh, I have (when no is looking) thrown it away in the trash.

Happy Halloween Botts!

Take care,
Kathy

I have three kiddos who will also be bringing in the candy too! So, in addition to waiting until right before the tricker treaters arrive and getting candy that won't be as tempting to me (non chocolate lol), we will be mailing our excess candy to a group that makes care packages to send to troops overseas! This is our first year doing it, and even the kids are happy about it! The kids will each pick out a sandwich baggie full of their favorites, to do with as they wish, and the rest goes into a package to be shipped out to The Soldier's Angels. Then they will add it to their care packages sent both to active troops overseas (in addition to boosting morale, the soldiers also hand it out to the local children in an effort to communicate and let them know they are their to help...candy is universal lol) and also to injured soldiers (in various hospitals). My kids learn about helping and sharing, and I have no temptations sitting around in the days ahead. Win, win! LOL If anyone else is interested, you can mail your candy to their warehouse in San Antonio Texas:  Soldiers'  Angels Warehouse 4408 Pan Am Expwy. San Antonio, TX 78218

I live in a kid friendly neighborhood and usually have between 80 to 100 trick or treaters.  I buy the large bag of tootie rolls from Sam's Club and pass the bowl.  By the end of the evening it is empty.  I have had the bag in the pantry for 3 weeks now unopened.  Does not bother me.  Now, if that bag had been 3 Mustateers or Almond Joys, there could have been another outcome.

I just don't buy or give away any candies.  If they are not in the house - I will not eat them.
I go to the movies, to the gym, visit a friend or go shopping on that day. Come home after 9...

But - I will buy some for work people... the last day ...on my way to work... lol... and put that in a break room I do not go to..

This is a very serious issue for me.  In 2002 the week following Halloween I had a tiny blister on my toe. I attacked my kids candy.  2 days later I had cellutitis up to my knee.  I went to the doctor weekly for months so that she could debreed my toe and ultimately saved my toe.  I am a diabetic.  I crash dieted from 276 lbs. to 167 lbs. over the next 7 months.  Since then I do not keep candy, cookies, cake etc. in my house....ever.  Family members must eat that stuff out of my house...at work or school.  Halloween I have given out McDonald's gift certificates, microwave popcorn, Nature valley nut crunch bars, no sugar added cocoa mix etc.  Kids actually like that stuff too.   Happy Halloween everyone.  Just me

I give out the little bags of Planters Peanuts, this way whatever is leftover is ok for me to have. This year I think I will give out the little packages of almonds.

I just completely fail at the whole thing.  I do buy early so that I can catch the sales, etc.  Can't give it to the hubby to hide as he would then sneak and eat it all.  Perhaps I need to start waiting til the day to get it or hiding it in the garage somewhere so it won't be so easily accessible.....

the savings you get by buying early are gone by the time you or your household eats 1/2 of what you get.   That was me. one year.  Then I checked how much candies I had left and realized that we ate 1/3 of all bought.
savings were 20%.... so at the end the candies for Halloween cost me more... lol.. not less... that and health issues...
