I regained 14lbs in matter of 1 week, from (god knows what). 1st thought it was water weight from my cycle, but then when it was over and it didnt drop, I knew I was in trouble.

My psych said it might be my meds (Lexapro & Abilify) Im taking for anxiety.

Ironically, I havent been sleeping well, my Rx for Lunesta ran out. Thinking thats its... cuz my diet is exact same before all the meds. So frustrated.... 14pounds!!!

Getaway Girl,
I feel your pain!  For many years, I was going through the same thing.  No matter how little I ate, I gained due to my psych meds.  I finally found a dr. that was willing to work with me and my meds to help me finally lose weight.  I take 5 different meds, along with all of my vitamins.  I am bi-polar along with anxiety disorder.  After 11 years since my surgery,  I'm finally losing weight again!
Keep after your dr. to work with you or find one that will.
Good Luck!
Deb

 Hi Getaway Girl,

I don't think it's the Lexapro as I have been taking it for years without any weight gain.  But we are all different.

Here are links for both, check the side effects and if they are weight gain call your doctor.

Again call and talk to your doctor and track/log everything that you eat and drink for a week and you may see where you can make some changes too.

Take care,
Kathy

Originally I started Lexapro in June, took it for 1 month, my weight shot up 10lbs. I let the Rx lapse, fell into a depression...dropped 20lbs. Ok.... Went back on it, at 220.. about 2 months ago, Ive struggled to be under 220-230.

This past week, my dosage was increase... as of 10/10/11. Ive taken it faithfully, only my lunesta lapsed... over a week ago. Havent slept well in few days. Weight is 14lbs from last monday. LOL... No, I would love to say Ive been eating non-stop. Not hardly. The opposite. Lack of sleep makes me nauseous and I struggle to eat. Only think I can think is the meds.

Im scared to go off of them, for fear of the crazies... but guess, its the sleeping. Or lack thereof...

Plus Ive barely been eating...

Lexapro
I was on it before having my WLS and gained 35 pounds in month!
The manufactuer got a very nasty letter from me because weight gain was in very fine print. Plus it destroyed my libdo, I couldn't even fantasize, let alone function. I'm on  Buproprion now 150 mg 3 times a day(generic Wellbutrin) and have no problems at all.

 Damn!

Seriously was beginning to think it was me. Ive been so careful not to eat any naughty-foods, but Ill be strict and more diligent.

I need the meds, but the weight gain, I can do without.

My psych warned of weight gain, but the first lil 10lbs, I considered to be water. This 14 in one week, naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. But thank u, I needed something to hold on to. This is why Im on a water pill, because years ago Celebrex did that to me, had me gain over 30lbs in a month. I dont know why some of my meds, make me gain like crazy. I know its sodium.

I was on Lexapro years ago, before, WLS, and gained A LOT of weight.  Has anyone had a bad experience with Prozac?

Not getting enough sleep can make you put on weight. You feel tired so you eat moe without even realizing it.

May God give me peace to greet each day as it comes.
