Feeling down today. Yesterday was my birthday and when I got home my brother had an Old Farmers Almanac and some lotto tickets on the table for me. He told me the lobster he bought for me was still alive in the fridge and that I better cook it. Then he went upstairs and didn't come down all night. So I ended up eating alone and had nothing to even unwrap on my birthday. When mom was alive, no matter how little money she had there was always something to unwrap on your birthday and on Christmas morning even if it was only a pair of socks. She always made the day special.
I never even heard from my other brother or any of my nieces and nephews.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!, I know its a day late and you don't know me, however I've been there.  You have your new health to be thankful for.  Some relatives are real dip sticks and don't know how to act.  You have all of us as your OH family and we are here for you.  Put your chin up and go exercise, Walk Run or whatever, it is great for depression.  Don't let this get you down, yeah your a year older but from your picture on here, looks to me like your a handsome guy and age is just a number, just think if you had all that weight you losed on today you would feel like 100 years old.  HAVE A GREAT DAY TODAY!  ~ Denise

I am very sorry that you are feeling depressed....especially on your birthday.

But as you said...He bought you an Old Farmers Almanac!!  I love those, I buy myself one every year.  He also bought you Lotto Tickets...you may be rich and not even know it yet!  AND a fresh Lobster!!!    One of my favorites dipped in melted butter.  (Hey it's your birthday so butter would be allowed.)

I know you felt bad about spending the night alone, but maybe your brother was not feeling well or was depressed with memories also.  But he did think about you and your birthday.

CELEBRATE!!!   You made it another year and with your much improved health, you will have many more to celebrate.

HAPPY  BIRTHDAY!!!!

Your mom sounds like one of those people who went out of her way to make things special for others.  I'm sorry for your loss.

Maybe your other family members don't attach the same meaning to birthdays and such.   My family is sort of like this.  I love them and I know that they love me, but if a birthday passes without a phone call, it's not a big deal.  We just talk on another day.

Your brother did make a gesture.  He acknowledged your birthday in his own way.

Maybe you should start some new traditions for celebrating the important days in your life.   Plan a get together with friends.  Save up for a trip.   Treat yourself to something nice.

Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday.

Happy Special Day Rich....  WE are only as special as we feel and sometimes we have to get that from within and not from others.  I know it's easier said than done but family often lets us down.  I hope if this does not happen again but if it does here is what you do.....

Put on some of your favorite music, pop a cork, put a bow on that lobster and enjoy and celebrate you have been given another year of life.  WE know there are others that are suffering and we are very lucky to be here. As fat people we could be dead by now.

So to hell with family and celebrate how special you are !!!

Happy Birthday to you! My Birthday was October 2nd and it was special to me because I know I am re-focused on my health. That is my gift. I suffer from depression...have for well over 20 years now and it's a ***** for sure! But...if you can somehow "flip" that switch...even for a little while, it can remind you of how great it feels to not overwhelmed with depression. It helps me to do this so I am hoping it may help you too. Cheers to your health and happiness and again...HAPPY BIRTHDAY. : )
