Fruit is an issue for me. I love watermelon. I have a hard time getting enough protein in for one day. I know I need it and I feel better when I have it but it is hard to get enough down me. Any suggestions?

Hi Tracy,  try to break down each meal and snack to get enough protein in for the day. My doctor said 60 gms per day for protein so I try to get 20 grams per meal and leave fruits and veggies for snacks.

breakfast I have usually 1 pkg oatmeal with skim milk and coffee with skim milk. the oatmeal is about 5grams the milk is 10 for the 1 cup I use for both coffee & oatmeal and then I will have a slice of turkey to get my 20 grams. Somedays I have greek yogurt that is 14 grams and my milk for 10. also Kashi cereal has a high protein one that is 13 grams of protein so you see how easy it is to get 20 grams in.

lunch & dinner is easy to make that with chicken, fish and beef or turkey are all high protein for a 3-4 oz serving. I do have lamb and pork but not too often because they have a higher fat content.

I found that by aiming for 20 grams per meal was easier than looking for the total 60 for the day...more days than not I get in well over 60 grams and of course I always have atkin shakes available so if I am short on protein I can drink one of those for 15 grams protein and only 1 carb gram,,,to keep my protein up there...hope this helps...Laurie
