Back On Track Together
Carb Busting
That is the 5 day pouch test. You can google it. I need solid food so I just am eating protein, healthy fat and veggies. No fruits, milk or starches. I am trying to keep my carbs at 50 gm. not including fiber. My hunger has gone down. There really are a lot of us working to get bott. I think it is interesting to read what everyone is doing. good luck, Just me
Can you sustain living on protien healthy fat and veggies for the rest of your life or is this a temporary way to get back on track? I'm worried about what I'm going to do after the 2 week start of the south beach diet is done. As I start adding things back in I am at risk of overeating. I did have a craving tonight that I was able to fight off. That was a success!
Thanks for the information.

IMO - yes. will it be easy - no way. I love fruits too much. But I do try to do that. I do eat fruits. but not all of them and try not to eat too much. When I do - my carbs cravings usually return and I get more hungry. Some fruits are worse than others.

I can't even eat 1/2 of one - I will dump on it (most days). So I do know that they would raise my BS and insulin level. Another that are bad for me are melons, grapes, etc. Any really sweet fruits. But fruits with fiber - are fine. I.e. I tolerate very well blueberries (wild - much smaller and more fiber), strawberries, blackberries, kiwi. No problem here.
I know that more than 1/2 apple may may not be good. Forget about pears - though I love them.
Peach - as good as they are - 2 peaches (and I never can eat just one ) will give me mini dump... (no cramps, but loose BM).
I do tolerate grapefruits, but oranges - not so much.
After eating low carb for good few weeks - and not having cravings - I would test fruits: eat equivalent of 1 cup (I know it is a lot) and see how my body reacts. This way - I know what my body is really sensitive to and what I need to do about that. The sugar in fruits may not show on glucometer while testing blood. But it still may bring cravings.
I also notice if after eating a serving I want more and more of the same fruit (i.e. I get that with peaches - can't get enough of them - so when I buy any - I only buy 1 or 2 pieces. (really)
Don't even bother with watermelon or bananas. Got sick on all of them.
Some foods to me are like alcohol to an alcoholic - I don't crave them as long as I stay away from them, but give me a taste - and I want more...
You may need to find out for you what are "ok" and not "OK" fruits.
BTW: tamato is a fruit - treat it like that.
