Hi everyone-I noticed that there arent a lot of people posting on here? Is there another site that everyone goes to frequently for support? I am on Baratric Bad Girls on FB....Ok Well here I am at the end of summer I guess- thinking wow I really need to get off these 20 extra pounds because I will feel much better and have a better life-eating right, exercising and doing what is best for me after having WLS-RNY in Oct 2005 so almost at 6 years now......I have been reading about how people get in their proteins and get their meals in- what i missed is ....do people eat vegies? fruits? i know that carbs are to be limited- SO back to the basics for me-need to get down to around 145 to feel better overall for me- it might not be the right weight for others- I am 5'7 and weigh 166 as of today- have been on myfitnesspal which has helped me to see a little what i was doing....hope there is someone out there tohelp with these few questions? :) also im severely anemic so im on ferritin es hope it works not sure how many to take but they definitely do not hurt my tummy like reg iron pills did. Hope everyone has a great sunday

Hey Sabrina,

I do hope the activity on this site does pick up.  I just recently started on MyFitnessPal and just love it.  It is so easy to use and so far has had everything listed that I have needed.

As far as carbs, I eat protein first, then veggies, then fruits if there is room which usually there is not.  I do not eat white carbs at all.  I basically follow the Somersize program from years ago.  It fits into my lifestyle and offers a variety of food choices.  The carbs are from non-starchy veggies, whole grains, and fruits.  You can Google it and see if it may be of help to you.

Good luck and hope to hear more from you.

Blessings....Dee

I had a rny in oct 2006.  I also am eating protein, healthy fat and veggies because I have less appetite that way.  I switched to Dannon plain greek yogurt because it is really low carb.  Also I have reactive hypoglycemia even from dairy and fruit and whole grain starches.  My husband was anemic and it ended up he had celiac disease.  I hear more and more people can't eat wheat.  He had to take iron too.  Now that he doesn't eat wheat though he doesn't need iron anymore.  Good luck with your journey.  Just me

Sabrina,
my ferritan was low and no matter what iron I took it hurt my gut. I asked for a referral to a hematologist and have recived iron infusions twice now. It is so nice not to take iron anymore! You could ask your pcp for a referral.
I post nearly daily on the WLS graduate board on the accountability thread.
I do eat veggies and some fruits. I try to keep it fairly low carb, protein first and veggies.

Hi everyone- thank you for the responses- its good to know we really arent alone and there are others who continue on this journey and we will continue to strive for the best! I had one iron infusion treatment in 08 and so im hoping that starting next week things are going to pick up when the treatments begin. I will go for four weeks , one time a week. Also, just as an fyi- I found a great dentist- who says he has seen a lot of gastric bypass patients after surgery who has similar issues to mine- I had braces just got those off about 4 months ago and basically my mouth started deteriorating really fast- I thought it had to do with acid reflux but my dentist said he saw a lot of patients that had -dry mouth afterwards that ends up causing issues- cavities, etc. -lost like four teeth so far- not fun after paying all the money on rootcanals and 6 grand for braces, dental treatment- anyone else have that issue? I just try and take one day at a time because really overall im tons better having the surgery than weighing almost 300 carrying all that extra weight on my body. Hope everyone had a great day!

I have a friend that had a RNY and her teeth have deteriorated too.  She went to a really good dentist and had tons of white fillings put in.  Her teeth now look great.  In time your's will too.  Just me
