Trying to change doctors

I need to find a doctor in Evansville.  I had surgery in Indy and am 3.5 years out.  It is just too far.  I am finding that no one wants transfer patients.  I found one who will charge me $575 to transfer.  Is this common practice?
Never give up!

I don't think a transfer charge is common.  I had my surgery in Urbana, Illinois and have since moved to St. Louis.  I contacted my insurance company for a list of surgeons for follow up care.  I then contacted my original surgeon for his opinion and went from there.

How far out are you?  I know some people use their primary care physicians for back up.  Your Indy surgeon can give your primary care physician the roster of bloodwork that needs to be done yearly and the appropriate lab levels.

$575 is too step for follow up in my opinion.

Good luck..
