Back On Track Together
Trying to get back on track!!!
Hi Ladies,
I'm so glad I found this forum..... I had surgery a year and few months ago. I lost abt 69 lbs total from the RNY. I started out smaller about 230. I haven't reached my goal weight and am struggling. BUT, I'm committed to getting back on track. My problem is i'm a carb addict and have no side effects from the surgery (which is a great thing, but just have to work harder to keep myself in check). So, just wanted to say thanks for this forum. If you have any suggestions on how to get back on track and get off the carb bandwagon and back on the protein wagon I'd appreciate any suggestions. I started the 5 day pouch test today. Tried to do it yesterday, but was driving on a short day trip and ended up eating a subway sandwich... So, here goes, I've made it through 1/2 of the day and had 60 grams of protein, hot tea and chicken broth.
Thanks Ladies in advance for your support. I'm gonna need it.

Welcome to BOTT!
Carb addicts, I think that we all have it in us. It's one hell of a fight, but you will be able to do this. Get back to basics. Protein, Protein and more Protein! No "white" foods, pop, drinking with meals. If you notice a few of us plan our meals in advance. I find this extremely helpful, you know what your next meal or snack it. It takes away a lot of the temptations.
It is possible to lose. As of Monday, I've lost 21 lbs. So, if I can get back on track after 10 years, you can do it too. Post your food and get in some exercise, start slowly and you'll be on your way!
Good Luck!

Hi, I , too, just found this group and am very glad I did! I am in the same boat as you when it comes to carbs, especially sweets. I can eat quite a bit of sugary stuff, before I feel any ill effects, and even then it hasn't stopped me. I've had a couple scary episodes with what I think is reactive hypoglycemia. The first one was when I was visiting a friend at the hospital of all places. I started to feel odd, rather light-headed and weak, My legs gave out on me in the elevator, my friend called for help, and ended up in the emerg. They didn't really tell me what had happened, I sort of put it together myself from reading of others' experiences. They did say I was almost in a coma, my sugar was so low. I still battle the sugar demon everyday, and wish I hadn't tried it!. I will do this, I don't want to blow my progress and this chance I have been given and am so greatful for.
Thanks for accepting me into this group, and for the support I know I will get here!
