Back On Track Together
#1 reason I had WLS
Now I remember the #1 reason I finally succumbed to the knife (well there were more but this one was at the top). After 30+ years of dieting and that old, 1 or 2 pounds a week bull crap. that is why. Those that do it via diet and exercise (and keep it off) have my admiration, those that couldn't like me, my heart goes out to you.
When you have so much to lose, it's almost inhuman to be able to get on the scale week after week and only see a pound or two. Even harder is when you lose 50+ and you or no one else sees it, is crushing. Where is the chocolate?
If you are like me and fighting back after a weight gain, do it and do it now before the amount you have to lose gets you back to the place no one wants to go.
Last night I took a kick a** turbo class and when I walked out I fell into the old fairytale thinking. I have eaten good this week (a few bumps) but more importantly I worked out 5 days and worked out hard. Yep when I weigh in tomorrow for the first week, eating clean, burning butt loads of calories. 5 pounds AT LEAST, oh yeah I just k n e w i t . . . . . . . .
Got on the scale this morning and barely squeaked out 2 lbs. Sigh.... OK OK, I am out of the 170's and don't look back unless you are headed there.
When you are in the process of losing no matter what tool you are using, this can be a "make or break" time. I use it to not feel sorry for myself and feel like I failed. I am going over plan last week and see where I can adjust, look for red flags and implement them.
Goal this week is to double my protein, way to low. Make sure I have a protein snack in the afternoon and before going to bed.
OK, week 2 here I come . . . . . . . . . . .

2 pounds is excellent! Remember we are not on the biggest loser......:-) And we are way beyond the WLS honeymoon that none of us will ever see again. If you lose 1 to 2 pounds every week, within a year you will be at goal and that is awesome indeed. One day at a time. Persevere, Patience and Positive thinking will get you to your goals!
If you are expecting to lose 3 to 5 pounds a week, I hope you are not setting yourself up for a fall and this this may lead to you giving up as you have surely did in the past.
Consistency is key not perfection and to lose over 3 pounds a week you would have to be perfect and weigh a lot too. You are under 200 pounds and it will be hard to get your 5 pounds unless you were perfect in every sense of the word.
Keep posting! and again congrats on 2 pounds!!

IDI,
Great Job, way to kick some ass! You can and are doing this! Try preparing your protein in small snack baggies. I make them up for the week, different flavors of course. But when I'm packing my lunch for the day, I grab 2 baggies with my shaker bottle and low carb milk and I'm set and out the door!
Keep up the good work and KEEP ON BOTTING!

Honestly even though you lost 2 lbs. on the scale you lost way more than 2 lbs. of body fat. You just gained some muscle weight. I know when you work out really hard you are actually breaking down the muscles and they carry fluid as they heal. I really think if you measured the body fat lost it would have been more than 2 lbs. You don't have that much to lose and you will be at goal weight long before a year has past.
I had a talk with my dietitian. I am no longer eating to lose weight. I am eating to maintain 160 lbs. (I am 195 lbs). I don't care how slowly I lose because I am eating the way I will eat the rest of my life. Eventually I will see 160 lbs. and I won't have to do anything different to maintain. I put the scale away in the closet because it is too frustrating watching it go up and down with every little fluxuation.
You could do the same with your scale. If you watch your body and how your clothes fit, THEY will tell you when you reach your goal weight. We never can let loose and eat whatever we want or we will gain weight back.
I don't know what you're eating and exercising. If you lost 2 lbs in 1 week you are on the right path. I am happy to lose 1/2 lb a week. Please be proud of your weight loss.
I also enjoy reading your posts...I love the little happy face guys!
