Back On Track Together
Need Help getting back on track.....6 yrs and gaining back weight
Hi,
I had Gastric bypass surgery in 2005 and weighed 367 lbs. I am now 304 lbs.
I am almost back where I started.
I need help. I hate being fat and I am getting right back to where I was.
I got down to 245 lbs (still obese but so much better).
Suggestions where to start????? What worked for you again?????
No....don't want another surgery!!
Thank you,
Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,
I am Carol and I am glad to meet you-- I am just getting back to finishing my weight loss. I hit a plateau one I think I self induced. I am holding on to my weight and trying to find out what is going on but I am sabatoging myself but as of two days ago I decided that is changing and I hope you to can turn this around. We have to get back to the basics and we can do it. I wish you lots of luck and even more strength to make this happen. Carol

Welcome
You will find a lot os support in this group. People are very polite. Many of us have a lot of weight to lose and some of us only a little left to lose or are keeping back on track to maintain. Good luck with your journey. I really think the support here has helped me through a very tough winter. Take care, Just me

Suzanne-
You don't need antother surgery! Go back to basics. LOW carb, protein shakes, listen to your pouch. DON'T drink with meals, avoid "slider" foods.
You can do it. The tool is still there. As soon as I stopped those easy carbs and snacking I immediately felt the restriction in my pouch & I'm almost 8 years out!
I lost to 145# maintined till 2008. Had a lot of personal problems and went back to comfort food. I gained to 244# (ick- I hate saying that)
12/2010 I started following the rules again & I JUST HIT ONDERLAND TODAY!!!!!!!!!! 199#!!!
I comes off a little hard at times but quitting the carbs made a world of difference.
Try it tonight- Grill a chicken breast, see how much you can eat of the chicken -don't add veggie bites or carbs or drink. You feel full really fast, YOU CAN DO IT!!

I have been above 200# since 2008. Dec 12, 2010 I weighed in at 244#. I've been "Back on track" since.
I'm not sure if I can count March as it was bad I bought a "new super duper wonder-scale" and was going by it. I gained 5# in the scale switch, and then never could lose a thing & I gave up for a couple weeks and ate quite poorly. Turns out the scale is inaccurate as they come and I had lost.
So all in all it has take 4 mos to lose 46#. This morning I was 198!
I am just going back to the way I was eating, low carb, no snacking etc.
Thanks for asking -How are you doing Molly?

I am struggling but I am finally getting it that I am going to have to go back to basics. Since March of last year I have lost 32 to 40 pounds. I have been yo-yoing so I will take it. I know what to do I just have to do it. I am good on exercising, it is the food that is challenging for me. Thanks for asking Pup!! Nice to meet you. I don't remember seeing you before but we need all the support we can get for sure.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hello Pup! Congratulations on such a wonderful loss-especially after being years post-op. You have inspired me,because now I know someone else has actually been able to do what I am trying to do. I also just got BOT since late March. Struggling, and I still have not implemented a consistent exercise plan (my next challenge). I am a carb-addict, and I find that if I open the door a little, the monster wants to come in and take over. But, you know, that pouch still works, and I am feeling the restriction after some dense protein and a bite or two of veggies. But it doesnt work as much unless I drink lots of fluid (water, tea) and water load before I eat...and it doesnt restrict well if I eat anything-even protein- that is not really dense. This is because my stoma is enlarged and food will just slide right down if it is the least bit soft. SO its Lent (almost at the end), and I am going to turn into a tuna steak any minute. I did eat your suggestion of grilled chicken once, and also ate some Boston Market turkey breast once. But everything else has been fish, fish, and more fish. Tilapia is too soft, tuna (canned or steaks) works, as does salmon. Eggs are ok. After Lent, I will go back to eating red meat and chicken, and I think that will help. When I finally felt the restriction in my pouch after ignoring and abusing it for years, it felt sooo good- like finding an old friend!!! Just wish I could do something about the enlarged stoma. Please keep posting so I can hear how its going with your weight loss. PS...what does ONDERLAND mean?
Tamistar
It sounds like you are making a good start! Congrats! If you felt the restriction, it's there- make sure you aren't drinking w/ meals and pushing the food through.
I'd die w/ only fish- I can barely tolerate tuna. :-)
Try measuring or weighing the food and keeping it 3-4 oz. When you stop eating, try to feel the pouch you will feel full. Head hunger is another thing-I get it too.
Onderland means my weight is back in the 100's . 196# today!
Keep working it.
