Back On Track Together
Hello: new to group
Hi- I'm Carol, 48 years old, 17 months out from my surgery: I have lost 130 pounds with a goal to lose 100 more. I hit a plataeu a few months ago and just cannot get myself back to finishing this journey I set out on to get healthy. Well I can't say that since I could get myself back if I just kick back into doing what is required: which is why I am hear. I decided to go back to what I learned pre-surgery and post: beginning with support, getting the water in, protein first--etc.
I can truly see just how much of a addiction food has been in my life. It has a life and control of it's own. That makes no sense does it: how can something that can't talk or move be in control--I guess it is time for me step up and fight for my own health and happiness. Does that make sense: fight for ???

Hi Carol,
Welcome to BOTT! I'm sure you know it's a lot easier said than done! I'm 10 years out and it's been a fight ever since. But honestly, it is going back to basics, protein, protein and more protein! No white carbs, sugars, drinking with meals. There have been so many new products out there that are low in carbs, like breads and buns, etc. But, I've noticed, that's something that fills me and then a short time later I looking to snack again. I've put myself on a strict meal plan of protein drinks for breakfast, lunch and sometimes for a snack. I eat a good protein and veggie dinner. I occassionally add a 1/2 of a banana or a few strawberries to cover all the food groups. I've also stopped snacking between meals. I know that you can do this, you're a smart woman working on a great mission. Try to post here every day. It helps to keep you accountable for the day.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Yes fight for is what you will have to do dearie.... It is not easy but we are worth it. You have the gift of your WLS so use it to your benefit. You can do it or you can beat it but it will take Patience, peseverance, and positive thinking and believing you can and will do it.
Are you exercising at all? I did not see you mention that. That is important when you hit plataeus. We are here for you if you need anything. This is a life long and lifestyle journey. And food addiction is powerful and not to be taken for granted either.
Congrats for seeking help and remember if you have any questions just holler!
