So I finally signed up for my first 5k! What I hope to be 1 of many.

Now the work really begins.

Who else is signing up? Anyone start training already?

Hi Jessica,
Wow, I'm impressed!
Unfortunately, I've my body's not been up to speed, but it's always been a dream of mine.  What exactly does the training entail? Perhaps, I can be a buddy for you and try to do a much lighter workout on my end.  Let me know the details.

Unless your are trying to win money, "running" isn't about speed but endurance in MY opinion.  I usually have walked my 5Ks...I'm currently working on "running" one by doing the Couch to 5K running plan (google it) and you'll find the plan and can also find podcasts that you can download to your ipod or MP3 players where it'll basically tell you when you run/walk etc.

Well I did the 1 mile walk this past weekend.  I am going to do a 2 mile walk next month.  I have been getting to the gym regularly again and yesterday I did 1/3 of a sprint triathlon (12 mile bike, 1/2 mile swim and 5K) so I did 4 mile bike, 1/6 mile swim and 1 mile walk.  That actually is a nice workout because you get "bike cardio" which is really easy on the joints and the swim is mostly arms and back.  Not too much stress on any part of the body.  I am such a slow jogger that my fast walk is actually faster than my jog.  Hopefully I will get back to full 3.1's in a little while. Good luck to everyone, Just me

The couch to 5k program is great, it really helps you get the running down.

I dont try to be the fastest, I just wanted to be able to do it, even a slow jog can be a good work out if you go far enough. I figured I have always wanted to do it, what do I have to lose but weight.

I have started riding bikes recently as well to break up the muscles usage.

I will post my work out routine sometime later today if I can get the time.

Good luck all!
