Hi guys - have not been here for a while... posting that is... I was lurking and taking notes...lol..
Let's do Lent challenge. join now - join later - just do something for your body and soul. You do not have to be catholic to do that.

The Lent was s design for people to clean the diet from the heavy winter foods and also since during the spring the food was scarce - it was the way to justify the "fasting days".
It is nothing like a spring to get back to basics.

I will post in a separate post about my commitment.

- no meat on Fridays, and at least one main meal on Wednesday need to be meat free Lunch or dinner
- Good cleansing diet. To help my liver and my body. Lots of greens
- Good BM every day. - (BTW - I take magnesium).
- Make sure I take all my vits and minerals
- Go to yoga at least 3-4 times a week.
- Meditation and reading good spiritual books. - pick a book...

I would like to tone or loose 5-10 lbs.  My clothes do not fit me just right. I hate that. But if I do not - that would be OK too.

Hi Hala!
I'm in for a challenge.  I've been struggling with some major depression and am still in the process of major med changes.  What used to be little things for me to handle have now become major projects.  So, I'm starting slow.
-New meds give me no appetite, so no problems here :)
-Going outside at least once a day, even to take a short walk down the block.
-Following the "no meat" Fridays
-Try to accomplish one type of at home exercise.
-Accept more faith into my life, through prayers.

I'm so glad you posted this. I feel like a HUGE failure and want to bawl when I see pictures of myself from last summer. What the heck happened to me????? When did I start getting flabby again and regaining weight? This sucks!!! But each night I struggle to not overeat or have wine. Lent is a good time to return to my healthy self.  Jesus fasted and struggled for 40 days before Easter.  It seems fitting to grow spiritually and move closer to him with my own "fasting" or struggling of sorts.

My Lenten Promises:

1. No more alcohol.
2. Log my food daily.
3. Exercise 4-6 times per week.
4. Take all of my vitamins.
5. Develop a regular prayer life, especially in the evenings when I struggle.

I'd like to lose 10lbs... 20 would be awesome, but let's be realistic. Looking forward to the blessings ahead!

Love,
Heather

I don't hardly recognize myself or my life anymore!

Hi Hala,

I'm going to join the Lent Challenge, as you suggested. Here are my goals for Lent:

1. To pray more and draw closer to God, the only One who can truly help me.

2. To, totally, give up Sugar

Thanks for the suggestion! This is truly the place to start and I know that God will help me.

Hi Hala,

I haven't posted here for quite awhile either, but your Lent challenge is just what I need!  My two year "surgeriversary" is March 16th and while I've lost 95lbs I still have about 70 to lose.  Here are my goals for Lent. . .

1. Meditate every day and start a gratitude journal
2. No sugar and write down my food (all of it!)

Here's to the next 40 days.

 1. Get back to the basics
 2. Start logging my calories vs exercise intake
 3. Meditate
 4. Go outside more when it's nice and appreciate what all I've been given
 5. Attend my church more regular (even on the days that my daughter is being a holy terror)

Hi Hala
I am definately in.  I don't eat sugar or simple carbs.  I don't drink alcohol.  I eat healthy fat.  I pray.   I go to a great health club.  So what do I do?  I eat consistantly too many calories.  I just need to eat less and move more.

I am going to a surgery support group.
I need to preplan my food and eat just a few less calories...Deb's posts should take care of that
I am looking for a 1 mile walk or a 5K to do in April
