Hi everybody!
Thanksgiving is almost here.
How did you do?
Did you learn anything about yourself?

Hope you are happy and are looking forward to holidays. Seeing friends, eating good food... etc.
There is so many good WLS holiday recipes that nobody should complain that they can have this or that.
Everybody is posting Thanksgiving recipes, and we always can have the turkey and the ham.
I know I will - as much as i can eat - and then some. With no guilt, no regrets, no issues.

I skip the sweet potatoes, and other starches, but will have great broccoli -cauliflower casserole (small piece - I do need the space for the ham) and then i may bake a NSA pumpkin pie to share. Not sure yet.

Have fun, Eat what you can. Skip  what you can't, and try not to get sick.

Make the holiday about what you are thankful for.

(mine is all about the ham my friend makes)  Did I mentioned the ham? LOL

Hi H2,
Ham, yum!!!  I've done pretty well with my goals this month.  Something very interesting that I learned about myself:  I don't need to eat between meals!  Seriously!  For the past two weeks, I have managed to talk myself out of mindless and mindful snacking.  It's taken 10 years to figure this out!  I'm making myself a low carb Thanksgiving dinnerI found recipes for pumpkin dessert and corn bread stuffingI love to experiment with recipes.  I know the dessert is good, I've been making it for the past few weeks.  The stuffing seems like it would be good.  I'll be plugging in the numbers to see the nutritional stats.  It's kinda funny, I'm making this stuff and I really only can eat 1/4 c. of it.  I'm sure that it will freeze well, if I like it!
I'm thankful for my loving family and being content with life.

Thanks for posting. I did not do well at all but after feeling sorry for myself, eating terrible, making my self sick I am back on track.

1) Exercise- terrible cant seem to get there 3 days a week, will work on this.

2) Not cheating - terrible but seem to be better and down a few pounds

3) Clean house - am working on this everyday, so moving in the right direction

4) Quit spending $ - much much better, still alot of room to improve

5) drink water everyday - much better but cant honestly say every day, will work harder

6) attitude - fell off the wagon but back on and seem to be in a better place

So as you can see the above are my challenge for Christmas.  Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for reminding me.  I need to look at these daily instead of once a month.

I printed mine and have them stuck to the mirror in the bathroom. I can see that every morning,

BTW: I am also better with my money and with declutering my house. I parted with 3 big bags of clothes and other junk.
I start giving away stuff that I do not need. (and that I have so much off)
last night - while in a store - I only bought what I really needed + one small bag of soy chips.  (a small portion of the chips + cheese are one of my meals)
Did not buy any wine or fudgesickles. Got the cheaper cheese. Overall did good.
I also contacted a guy to fix what is broken in my house and I hope will fix it and I can move on and clean and organize more.

I receive a free advertising paper and "handymen" place adds in it.  I also looked through the fliers posted at Menards.  I had a couple of jobs I needed finished so I called 10 guys for estimates.  Their skills and prices were quite different.  The most experienced did not necessarily charge the most.  I ended up rotating between 2 men and was very happy with the results.  You will be glad when you get the jobs finished.

I hope you do some sort of Christmas challenge.

I did great this Thanksgiving- although I did eat too much stuffing over the course of the day! Not shabby considering its the only time during the year I eat it (ok, ok, I eat it at Yule, too).

For dessert I made 3 types of sugar free Jello used low-fat whipped topping for it. YUM. So my dessert ended up being less than 50 calories a serving. :) Its a great late night snack.

I made turkey (my best one yet and hubby was not even hear to eat it!), sweet corn, stuffing, mashed potatoes (I don't eat it), and had Hawaiian sweet rolls. I did eat 4 rolls over the last two days. It will be good when those are gone!

My calories came in at 1200. I did great! I felt like a normal person.

I lost 4 lbs. this past month.  I am logging my food regularly.  I read the articles you posted a while back and am working on lifestyle changes.  I need to pick up the workouts next month.  I have been so good at getting to the gym most days since 2002 and yet lately I have been avoiding it.  I have a lot of pain from injuries but my workout is very easy and the the hot tub etc. is really soothing.  I keep trying to convince myself that the easy workouts are important.  In comparison to what I used to do though, they really don't push me.  I know I need to get back into it slowly though or things will get worse instead of better.  I hope someone starts a Christmas challenge.

How really did I do on my own goals:

Topic: RE: Thanksgiving challenge - one month to go...

So, how did I do?
I know I want to lose 5 lbs. Do not need to, but I want to.  Yea, crazy head.
I hate when the scale shows more than 150 lbs.  And it does for me now. So I need to get a grip on myself and my not-eating lately, and lack of exercise (too tired) and not so good with all my supplements.

My Thanksgiving goals:

1.Make sure I take ALL supplements (not only the minimum) i am doing very good on that.
2. Eat good - real meals at least 2 x day- Not there yet... but working on that. I make sure I eat at leaast one meal. Most days there are 2 meals. so all is  fine
3. Lose 5 lbs -   I may to choose to GAIN 5 lbs.  And be 150-155 range - why? I can eat carbs without RH kicking my butt, and I look less tired.. I gained 5 lbs, and then another 5... so next challenge - I want to lose 5 lbs. but from a higher level than were I was before. .
4. Drink enough water.  - Working on that - doing OK in this area
5. Get my house in order. Working on that - doing OK in this area - definetly a huge progress.
6. Start socializing more (attend at least one meeting a week)  Not there yet... but working on that
7. Get back into exercises (3-6 x a week) - Not there yet... but working on that.
8. Read at least one fiction book a month. Working on that - doing OK in this area - read one full fiction book.
9. Try to be happy... (LOL)  Not there yet... but working on that

Except that my RH responded nicely to me gaining some weight - I have no more to report. I am still size 6, and 4's are a bit snag... but - maybe that is the good thing? My top is 8 anyway, no ass, and thick legs... so not really balanced at size 4....
iIsaw some pictures of me when I was 145 lbs and size 4 needed a good belt to hold them, and it didn't look that good.  Maybe I should be a full size 6... with an extra belly and butt, when eating an apple does not send me into RH mode? When my face do not need to much extra fillers for me to look 50 and not 60?
So maybe (as hard as it is to admit) I should be 150-155 on a scale... ?  who knows...
