Hello Fellow BOTers - Introduction

Hi fellow back on trackers - I am Jen, I am 28 years old, and more than 3 years out. Who would have thought...
So before having my RNYI was at a high of 358.5 lbs I set a goal of 168 lbs, in all honesty I was hoping to get under 200 lbs. and was not sure I could even get to that. But as the pounds started coming off, I eventually realized my goal might become a reality. And in fact I did hit that goal - and kept on going to my post op low of 155!!! YAY ME!!! I was so happy, I could buy clothing at just about any store, and for once I was surprisingly happy with the way they fit my body. I was being more active and outgoing - I even tried to ski for the first time! Which starts my little upward journey...on my 3rd laborious trip down the hill, I was cutoff by a hill-hogging snowboarder, went skis over head, and landed face down in the snow -Um Not So Fun! This little fall turned into 2 knee surgeries and 3 MONTHS ON CRUTCHES!!! Buh Bye physical activity...Hello 5 lbs (and me up to 160 lbs) .After the second month I found out I was pregnant - YAY!!!  Except I discovered cravings again - for SWEETS - which up until that point I had managed to stay away from for the most part - a few bites here and there, but totally under control.  So by the time my handsome little man was born I was up to 203 lbs - yeah I know... My six week follow up appointment showed me sitting at 183 lbs. - and today (my son will be 10 months old in 4 days) I sit at 185 lbs. OH CRAP!!!!
So Reality Check Time...Time to Get Back on Track... Time for Getting BACK TO ME ...The Post Op Me - The Me I want to be, and worked so hard to be. So yesterday I went back to basics, protein shakes, eggbeaters and cottage cheese, LOTS OF WATER!!! I went to the gym for the first time in like forever...and it feels great! I know it is going to take time and persistence, but I am hoping I can stay on track and do this for ME and for my son, so he can grow up with a mom who will play with him and not just sit on the sidelines (which was one of my reasons behind having this surgery in the first place!).

Hi Faeryinked-  Welcome to the "Let's lose 40 lbs." club.  Actually you are at the head of the pack with only 30 lbs. to lose.  Congratulations on your "little man".  What a wonderful blessing and definitely worth 30 lbs!  I understand the ortho issues.  I had 2 foot surgeries since my RNY and was on my back elevating my foot and walking around on crutches because I couldn't put any weight on my foot for 2 recuperations of 8 weeks each.  Last summer I had tendinitis with cortisone shots, traction and PT.  So we jump back into the ring and start slowly chipping away because "A journey of 40 lbs. must begin with a single ounce".  A few pages back there is a Thanksgiving challenge.  Congratulations and welcome, Just me

Hi Jen,

It's great to meet you! Welcome to the group and congratulations on all of the wonderful successes in your life, including your bundle of joy and your significant weight loss. My regain was 20 lbs, but percentage wise, it was probably in the same realm as yours. I found that when I started tracking my intake that I was seriously upside down in my Carb to Protein ratio. I also found that I was 'leveraging' my tool. When I started to look at what made me successful in the weight loss phase and evaluating what changes I had made, I realized that I have my tool and I just had to get it out and use it.

You have some powerful motivation to get back on track and you have to tools you need to make it happen. I really believe that you'll be able to get back on track.

I'm only a few weeks from having mine and will  be in same boat as you. Right now the doctors are on me to make me gain more weight. They don't think my little one is getting enough calories. I gained almost 20 lbs though before I even conceived between drinking too much wine and high calorie cheese and also breaking my tailbone and not being able to exercise. Right now I am up about 40 lbs from my low of 117. I'm sure I still have a few more lbs I will gain in the last weeks of pregnancy. I will follow up with you all. Keep us updated. You can do it!

Congrats on your pregnancy! In my first trimester I was told to make sure I increased what I ate to make sure the baby got enough calories...I went way overboard. Ah well, I guess it's live and learn, and try to get back to where you were. For sure keep in touch & enjoy the last few weeks being prego!
