Need a Kick..in the bootie!!
Hello Ladies !!!
I'm reaching out for some help....I've managed to gain about 5-7 pounds. It fluctuates because of water weight...I'm like a sponge..UGH!!
I've allowed my eating habits to get out of control. I eat too many "carby" things and I need to STOP NOW!!
The craving are AWFUL.......!!! I was wondering since I want to shed some more (more than just the few pounds that I've gained) would it be an o.k. idea to just do protein shakes for several days??? I thought that it would help me regain control. I am VERY FORTUNATE that I never feel hungry...and I am VERY FULL when I eat 4-5 ounces of solid protein...I am very fortunate and feel that those things are in my corner!!!
What do you ladies think???? I know I need to add in water and exercise too.....I'm trying to do one thing at a time...I really need these scales to go on the downward spiral...I'm really upset with myself...and I don't like the way I look.....
TIA,
Chrissy

Hi Chrissy- OK...KICK!
Really I wish I was where you are. If I would feel full with 4 to 5 oz of solid protein I would eat that, drink fluids, take vitamins etc. All we really need is protein, vitamins and fluid...I was told years ago. I just eat fruit and veggies to eat until my grehlin levels drop back a little so I don't consume too many calories.
I don't see an advantage to drinking protein unless you can't eat enough protein. I would think you would be hungry with only drinking protein and what's the difference nutritionally?
If you are craving "sweets" you could try a protein bar maybe. They taste like candy bars to me.
What does "TIA" mean?

Hi Chrissy!
Welcome to BOTT! Bootie kick to you!
There are days when I feel out of control and just do protein drinks. Honestly, if I could survive on liquids, I'd do it. Try it for a few meals and see if you can cut your carbs. Take a look at the Back On Track post by Cathy. It's helpful and will get you going in the right direction. Also, check in daily to post your meals and plans on working out. It helps to have a plan.
You can do this!

Welcome to BOTT!! This can be done! But take it from us, it is not easy and will require hard work and not giving up when the going gets tough.
Regarding protein, I feel eating low fat proteins is key. Trust me you will need to eliminate those white carbs and stick with complex carbs.
BOTT has a good starting print-out available. Look at the beginning of this thread.

hey, at least you have a bootie... mine is flat, and when i gain - it all goes to front. then when i lose, first my butt gets smaller and then ... maybe .. the front ..
Now I have a gut... gained 5 lbs .... (gained 6 but lost 1 so net 5lbs... )
humor aside - probably it will be OK,,, but most likely you will be able to lose a lot of water and the carbs storage in the muscles first... and once you start eating - that all will be back in no time.
IMO - make sure you do not go below 800 cal per day or 100 gr of proteins. Add some complex carbs (maybe some veggies?) and some more fiber ... (to make sure you have a good BM... ).
When i need to lose weight quickly (for an even - to look good in a dress), I do 4-6 shakes a day for 3-4 days. And take a lot of vitamins, make sure have daily BM, and drink a lot of water...
but when i start eating normal again - the water and the weight is usually back within 3-5 days... even if I eat little - normal - but little.
maybe adding extra walking - (then make sure you have extra calories for that- you do not want to go into starvation mode).

All the ladies have good suggestions.
I was wondering-- has anything changed in your life? Do you have some sort of stress that could be triggering your need to eat? If you don't feel hunger (I'm luck enough to be blessed with this too!) then your brain is telling you to eat and mental hunger is the worst.
Try to take a moment when you get these cravings and just kind of do a mental checklist-- are you mad? Sad? Stressed? Anxious?
I ate due to depression and anxiety. I didn't take the time to figure it out until now. :)
