New to Group, and a question

Hi everyone! So glad to have found this group! Had RNY in 9/03 and lost 100 lbs. Have been "off track since 2006 and regained 30 lbs. It's now time to get "BOTT".  The one thing I always did was keep up on my vitamins, and my overall health is good.  I had become a real grazer, mostly on carbs.

My first challenge was that I had actually forgotten how I was supposed to be eating! My portion sizes are OK, but I can eat just about anything, and have been - carbs and sugar and no problem, which IS a problem.  So I'm back to basics - protein shakes, protein first, cutting out most of the carbs, drinking my water.

But my GI system is not happy.  I'm suffering bloating and horrendous gas, and bouts of diarrhea.  I'm afraid to eat breakfast before I get into the car to go to work because I might not make it to work without an emergency bathroom stop, so I eat late.  I'm due for my annual physical the end of the month, but would love to get any feedback from you all, as you know what I'm going through.

Bless you all for being here!  It's great to know I'm not alone, especially when trying to get back on the horse.

Have a great day!

Hi Alice!
I know how you feel about grazing and falling back into our bad habits.  I'm 10 years out, initially lost 130 lbs. and about 5 yrs ago started to regained 30.  Just so you know it is possible to get Back on Track.  I found that posting on the daily Cafe/Cardio forum helps me plan on my meals and snacks.  I also add what type of exercise I plan on doing.  The hardest things for me is to not eat with my meals or to eat slowly.  Take things one day at a time, You Can Do This!
Keep on BOTTing!
Deb

Thanks for your reply and encouragement Deb!  It really helps to know there are others out there in the same place as me.

The past week has been good.  Keeping a food diary really has helped, and in just one week I've learned that eliminating Wheat and all but natural sugars in whole foods (i.e., whole fruit in small amounts) has just about cleared up the GI problems!  Duh!  Just needed to get back to the basics.

Haven't gotten on a scale, since right now that's not really my issue.  I just want to feel better and eating right where I need to be.  I'll pass on the daily postings, as I try to not spend my evenings in front of the computer (I do it all day at work!).  But it's good to see what everyone's doing to stay Back on Track Together, and I'm glad to have found you all.

Have a great day everybody!
