Persevere.

Some days you wake up feeling tired or distracted. You just don't have the time or energy to follow your WLS regimen at that moment. So, you skip breakfast, or eat that slice of cold pizza that you righteously avoided the night before. Days of discouragement shouldn't surprise you. They are reminders that food will always be complicated -- either a comfort or a distraction.

The key to real change is perseverance. When you take a misstep, for whatever reason, know that you will continue to persevere in your WLS recovery. You will start over at the next meal--you will overcome the temptation next time. That is how you'll succeed. Being perfect just isn't going to happen. So persevere.

Action for the day: No matter where you are in your recovery, today you will persevere. Start over every time you stray from your plan. Start over as often as necessary.

I can't agree more.  And if it happens that you slack for a week or 2 or more, and then are scared to get on that scale or put on the "skinny" pants - just "get -up", dust yourself off and do it.
day or 2, or a week or 2 is better than 1-2 months.  And small "missteps" are easier to correct than big ones.  Losing the 2-3 lbs - that you just put on - is easier than 20-30 6 months later.

2 weeks ago - i got sick- had no energy and desire or ability to eat dense proteins. Exercise, - what exercise?  getting up in the morning and breath was a hard work.
So - 2 weeks later, finally i got on the scale.  Yeah.  4 lbs more than it was.  And carb cravings.
This week - is all about taking control of my eating and exercising.  i feel much better, can walk and do yoga again.  And yes - I crave carbs and my nuts and seeds,  but - hunger - unless it is at the time my next meal is due - is not an emergency.  I can drink my tea (green) and wait for my meal. 15 more minutes.  It is OK to be hungry and not snacking on nuts.   I can wait for my lunch.  Is it easy ? No! - but - I know I can do it.   Eventually the craving for carbs will go away, in a day or five days... lol.

The statements about this not being easy and small missteps being easier to correct is so true!  I am determined to have small missteps this time around.  No more huge relapses or lapses.  Thanks for your encouraging words.  It helps me know that I am not alone in this battle of getting back on track and confirms what I already know, it is not easy at all.
