I need help!

Hello everyone, I need help. I had gastric bypass almost five years ago. I got down to 150 lbs but am not up to 183 lbs again. I just have no will power and have seemed to have forgotten how to eat. Don't get me wrong I do know the basics but something is missing and I just can't figure it out. My will power is gone. Everyday I say I am going to eat right but something goes wrong. My life is very stressed; my brother lives with me along with his two children. He has had heart bypass surgery, lost part of his foot due to diabetics and is not unemployed, One of my nieces has mental problems and thankfully she is going to stay with her mother for at least the summer. I am about to go crazy. I recently bought a bike but do not have time to ride it . Money being what is it I would like to join the gym here in our town but it is around 50 a month and I dont' know if I can afford it. I hate exercising by myself but I guess I need to start it again. What worries me most though is my eating. I have started logging my food so hopefully this will help. Thank you for listening to me. I will be checking back since this site seems to be what I need.

Welcome   Might help if you gave up the double standard.  You expect your nieces to mind you - not to vote on whether or not they want   Well, like so many of us, you don't demand the same from yourself.  Remember, wanting to eat DOES NOT = having to eat.  Make your plan, write it down, follow it.  Everyday will get easier.  You might like to get the book (Amazon.com, paperback) 50 ways to soothe yourself without food - has some very good ideas - not everything for everyone, but something for everyone.

Have to scoot for now, but if you're comfortable make one of those things to do instead of eating to come here and post - 50 times a day if you need to. WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER - YES WE CAN!!!!!!

Journaling your food is a start for sure.  Life happens and it is a struggle not to go back to what we know best, our friend food.

A gym is nice but not a necessity to get moving.  You have to squeeze out some ME time.  30 to 45 min a day to go for a walk, ride bike, something.  Exercise helps with stress. Exercise is necessary to stop gaining weight and eventually start back losing the regained weight.

Checking in here is good for sure.  May want to check out some of other groups also to deal with struggle with food.  I understand your struggle because I have the same struggle daily.  I start out with a plan and I fall of the wagon at night time.  The only thing helping me maintain the 16 pounds I have lost now is exercising.

We can get back on track together. You are on your way by just coming back to OH.com.  That is how I lost my 16 pounds of regained weight.  We are here for you!!

Thanks for the support. I am determined to get back on the right track. I am keeping a log and will just have to  make time for exercising. Can't wait until the summer when it will be easier (I am a teacher) since I will have more free time. Guess I will just have to get out my new bike and use it, lol. I did do sometime possible today and called the dietitian that my doctor recommended I see last October, guess better late than never. I have an appointment to see her on June 2nd. She wants to see all my food logs from today on. Wish me luck I know I can do did since I did it before.

Hi Laurel,

You seem to be in the same place I was about a year ago -- good news is you came back here before you gained another 30 lbs. like I did!!  If you read my profile, you'll get a better idea of why this occured but in a nutshell it was a combination of a car accident and job loss.

Another suggestion that I found here was the 5 Day Pouch Test:  http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

I looked at this process as a "Hard Reboot" of my pouch and it has helped tremendously.  It helped me drop 8 lbs. since Easter, but it also helped me get back into doing some excercise and be more aware of what I was eating.  Everyone else's suggestions are absolutely necessary to getting back on track, but this is the one that helped me the most!!

I hope this helps!

Take good care,
Amz
