Back On Track Together
Break the rules.
Break the rules.
Some days it's hard to do the right thing. You don't want to eat your protein or drink your water. Maybe you just don't feel like exercising. That's normal. If it's a rare event to want to "rebel" against your routine, then you're probably okay. Give yourself a small break. But when the days of rebellion start to add up, you're in trouble. How do you cope with rebellious feelings? Sometimes the easiest thing to do is break down your "have-tos" into a checklist. Then, cross off or modify things that are truly non-essential. For example, you may want to exercise, but do you have to go running? Maybe cleaning your house or walking at the mall will check off the exercise box a little less painfully.
The action you take in the face of rebellion isn't as important as having a strategy for dealing with it. Plan for rebellion, rather than letting it take over your life.
Action for the day: In your journal, write your step-by-step "Rebellion Action Plan." What will you do the next time you don't want to follow your routine?
