Hello Everyone, I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself a little. My name is Victoria, I am 23 years old and in June of ’08, I had RNY gastric bypass surgery. I weighed 415 pounds (I am 5’10’’). I got pregnant 7 months later and successfully gave birth to my amazingly perfect little boy, Tristan. Tristan will be 8 months old and Mommy is having a hard time losing weight. Right after His birth I weighed 308, but I am now weighing 325. Ugh. So I have a very long way to go yet. My surgeon’s goal for me is 140, but my personal goal is 180. I would love any advice and support that you are all so great at giving (I hear). I am lactose intolerant and allergic to eggs so suggestions for egg-white omelets are the only thing I am not open to! LOL. Thanks in Advance,
Victoria

Hi Victoria,

Did you print off the pages found her on BOTT board?  This packet is very helpful in continuing your journey.  There are many helpful groups here on OH.com that will keep you mindful of your goals.  We on BOTT are here for you.  If you read here daily and post when you can it will keep you very mindful of your goals of getting back on track.
You will succeed if you believe!

Yes, I did read through the information found here and I looked at some information from my surgeon's website. I pretty much know what I need to do... I just have to do it.

1. I am really bad about drinking my water.
2. I eat crap... alot.
3. I am a snacker....
4. I have defiantely fallen off the protein first wagon
5. I eat more than I should at a time (my pouch stretched during my pregnancy and I need to shrink it back up)
6. I drink diet sodas

Oh the list of things I have been doing just keeps going. BUT NO MORE! I am strong enough to do this. I signed up at my daily plate. com (the site my surgeon recommends) and I am going to make this happen.

You sound like you are on your way Victoria!!!  I know all about falling off the wagon.....:-)  Number 2 and 3 are my worse downfalls.  And grazing can kill us if we let it.   K.I.T.  Dailyplate.com is similar to Myfitnesspal.com.  I think MFP.com has more support.  But whatever you do is cool because you have a wealth of support here......:-)

First of all, let me WELCOME!!!!    I hope you find this site as helpful as I have.  There is no doubt in my mind that without the caring, support, understanding and positiveness of this group of folks I would never have been able to get back/stay on track to not only lose the weight I had gained (had my lap band 12/05) reach my goal weight again, low my goal weight by 15 pounds and am maintaining beautifully.  I call them angels in disguise as humans

I know that I have to plan my food at least one day ahead (better if 3 or 4), write down my plan, follow my plan - whether I'm in the notion of following it or not.  When I know I have had enough/not too many calories, I know that any "hunger" I feel is head hunger - not tummy hunger.  So few of us have any idea what tummy hunger is but we sure know a lot about head hunger.  Our problem is about 1% physical and 99% mental/emotional.  Our surgery is a fine tool to deal with the physical - but it doesn't do a thing for the mental/emotional.  The same things trigger us to want to eat after surgery as triggered us to want to eat before surgery.

It helps me to stay on track to post every day on the C & C thread - helps keep me accountable.  There are no "Compliant Police" here, but posting is like making a promise to a friend.  We are much more likely to keep a promise to a friend that we are if we only make a promise to ourselves.  (That head thing again)

You do/and will expect Tristan to mind you - especially when it's a life-treatening situations - he doesn't get to "vote" wether or not he wants to, is comfortable minding, doesn't like you right then for making him mind.  Give up your double standard - demand the same obedience from yourself for make no mistake about it - Tristan's moma is shortening her life at the weight she is now.  YOU CAN DO THIS, YES YOU CAN.  You did it before, so of course you can do it again.  I believe in you - now won't you join me in believing in you?

If you are comfortable, please post often and allow us to share your journey

Again, a great big welcome to you

Thanks for the support. Believe me I know this is all in my head. I am addicted to food. It's so hard b/c unlike all other addicts you can't completely give it up.

I signed up at mydailyplate.com to help me watch things better.

None of us have found it easy - and, of course, none of us can stop eating.  But we have managed to be compliant none the less.  YOU CAN TOO!!!!!.  I find mydailyplate a wonderful way to plan my food - hope you find it helpful too.  Remember, if it was easy, you'd already be doing it.  Change is rarely easy, but I'm living proof it's worth it!!!!!
