Chicken Lettuce Wraps - could it be the bariatric food of choice?
Hi Everyone,
Its been awhile. But, I wanted to share this with you. First, I apologize if you already know this but it was news for me. So in the event you haven't heard about it, I wanted to share.
While liviing in Houston, (before surgery) I chicken lettuce wraps at 3 resturaunts - BJ Brewery, PF Changs and Pei Wei. I wanted a relative to try so I set out to find a recipe. Low and behold, I was able to find copycat recipes from 2 restuarants. So we tried them. I realized that chicken lettuce wraps just may be the best bariatric dish!
1. First, the chicken is diced into pieces no bigger than a pea as is the waterchestnuts, onions and mushrooms (I personally do not like mushrooms and leave them out).
2. It tastes sooo good!
3. It is a very high protein dish.
4. It tastes awesome!
5. Veggies are built in.
6. It really tastes goodl.
7. While this recipe may be a little shocking in calorie count, there are many ways to lower the calories on this dish. It just depends on what you prefer.
8. And it really tastes good.
9. If you wash and chill the lettuce prior to starting to cook, you can eat them chilled and have that great crispy/cool taste. That's what you get with the first bite, but then you bite into the warm sweet and great chicken. Maifun noodles are not necessary, but they do really add to the fun. It is a very fun dish because you get to eat it with your hands.
10. Did I mention - It really tastes good?
Okay....enough. I just wanted to share this recipe. It way cold outside and I am a little pathetically bored today. So, I'm off for my walk! Later! Here is the receipe I decided to use. I made my own alterations and you can too!
