Stress eating 2

Still trying to keep myself from stress eating, and have lost another one of the 6 pounds I had gained back!  Only one more pound to re-lose!!  It is so hard not to fall back into the comfort of food when things aren't going well.  Yesterday my daughter called and she lost her new job of 2 weeks.  So she and her fiance' are both again looking for work.  I know that we are never given more than we can handle, but sometimes things seem overwhelming.

I continue to look for a part-time job.  I do have an interview next Monday, and am hopeful that this one works out.  I do have a couple of substitute teacher applications out there and one for a summer-only garden-interpreter position for a local park.  One of my good friends had told me how depressed she became after retiring from teaching.  I just feel sad not working for a paycheck.  Helping our children financially is wearing on me, and I just want a job.  But until I find one, I will continue to try to do my best and let God do the rest.

I continue to go to Curves 4 days a week, and there are some motivational sayings decorating the walls.  I wrote one down yesterday - "A positive attitude is a magnet for positive results!"  I will try to keep a positive attitude!

Any other suggestions to stay motivated will be greatly appreciated!!

Julie,
Just wanted to say, Congrats on your weightloss!
Trying to find a job is so stressful.  Put that positive saying up on your fridge.  This way every time you go to the fridge, you get reinforcement.

Keep on BOTTing!

Julie - congratulations on your pound lost and even a bigger pat on the back for being stressed and NOT falling back into your old thinking/doing cycle.  Another YEA RAH is that you are using the time you have free now to ramp up your exercise.  Think on these things as a part of that positive attitude that is so vital for us all.

Do you plan, andwrite down your food plan every day - another positive way to use your time.  I find that essential for me now just as it was when I was losing.  I post on our Cardio & Cafe thread daily as a way to hold myself accountable.  Then when you're stressed and want to eat, go to C & C thread and post instead.  A simple, "I'm here and I'm busy posting and not eating" will do just fine at those times - even if it's 50 times a day.

Let us know of anyway we can be of help to you

Happy -

Thanks for the support and the suggestions!!  Once I lose this last re-re-gained pound I can continue on my BOTTing way to get to my goal weight.

I do keep a daily food diary, and also keep track of my blood pressure and pulse rate (on medication for atrial fibrillation).  I keep track of my steps during the day with a pedometer and track that as well.  I have a "Caltrac" which approximates the number of calories I use each day (I wear it like the pedometer), and can use it to calculate the number of calories burned as I BOTT along.

I also posted on Cathy's "head hunger" thread, and I will check out the C & C thread.

I applied for another job today (it was in our local paper just yesterday), so I have several out there and just trying to hang in there until something opens up.

Thanks again!

Good for you, Julie.  I don't know about you, but I try not to know how many calories I burn exercising because then when I'm having a bad day my thinking gets ****eyed - I think "I burned xyz calories, so I can eat xyz extra calories"  (Making sense is NOT the minimum daily requirement for being a human being!!!! LOL)  but everyone of us is different, so if that is good for you GO FOR IT!!!!  See how you can enjoy this time off as you are seeking another job.  Remember, just like the scales do not measure worth, neither does having a job.  A job is just a job - desirable and maybe even very important from a $$$$ standpoint, but NOT a measure of your value as a person.  Keep on keeping on
