Have I ever got a trick for you!

I had a quart jar of Amish bean soup (love it!) that I couldn't open - even with my battery operated jar opening - because the jar has a wide mouth.  I stuggled and struggle but with not one bit of success.

Yesterday I mentioned it in chatting with one of my co-workers and she had the most marvelous solution.  She said just make a hole in the lid with a nail.  I got out my trusty hammer, needled nosed pliers to hold the nail (to spare whacking my fingers by mistake) and went to work.  Not being very strong of arm it took a few blows, but make a hole I did and the lid unscrewed with no effort at all.  MAGIC   Now you domestic souls may have been doing this for years, but it was a new trick to me and one I will use often I'm sure.

Not bad!! What if you want to re-use the jar or store left overs in it, though? A strip of tape would seal that hole right back up. =D Genious.
