Back On Track Together
Can you shrink your stoma??
Hi everyone,
I had RNY 2000. I went from 372lbs to 170lbs (in less than a year). By 2004 I had gained 50 pounds back. I was told my stoma had stretched as I could eat a lot of food. I had a revision and lost 20 pounds, but have since gained 70lb. I am reasonably sure my stoma has stretched again as I have the EXACT same symptoms as before the revision.
I am trying to get back on track and I don't want another surgery. Has anyone ever heard of a non surgical way to shrink your stoma??
I would ask my doctor, but he retired and I don't like his replacement.
Thanks ;)

Hi,
I have to wonder why the stoma can't be surgically fashioned while the initial surgery is being done so stoma won't stretch...since we have a history of pushing the limits, it seems that the wisest thing to do in surgery would be to fix it so we can't stretch the stoma........the miracles of modern medicine and all.......
