Back On Track Together
stretched pouch
Hi Betty,
My name is Amy and I am a returning member who had surgery back in 2005. I' recently came back and started to look around to see if I could find anything to help me.
Recently on the BOTT group someone mentioned the 5 Day Pouch Test: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/
I cannot personally vouch for the test, however the theory seems practical and I'm going to give it a shot. I haven't received much help from my current physician, so I don't have much to lose if I start from where I began.
I hope this helps a little.
Take good care of yourself,
Amz

Protein, protein, protein!!! Increase your protein intake. Write down everything that you put in your mouth....good and bad. Weigh every day. No it's not easy but this helped me to get back on track. My doc told me that my pouch wouldn't stretch out. I asked. There are just some days that you can eat more than others. I gained 15 lbs back over the last year. I'm 3 yrs out from my RNY. I'm almost back to where I stopped losing but it was because I was eating things that I didn't need to eat.
Some people have tried the 5 day pouch test which I hear works too.
Good luck Betty!

Sounds like a great start Betty.
I'm actually glad for a small amount of pouch stretching- as for my first 2 years I could hardly eat anything and struggled last year with getting enough food/vits/protien in. Didn't let the weight get too low, as I was scared. And initially after the tightness loosened a little I made some mistakes (hellllo bread, rice, and carbs) but It's always about choices. It sounds like you're making MUCH better choices then I did when I realized I'd stretched mine a little.
Best of luck staying on track and we're right here with you!

I have gained about 35 lbs in 6 months due to meds affecting my nerve endings and therefore cannot sense fullness. My doc is going to do endoscopy to see if stretching. Can simeone tell me about 5 day test. Also any info about revision surgery would be greatly appreciated. Also any comments on the fact some docs say you cannot stretch your stomache? Info much appreciated. [email protected]
