Hi BOTTers,

I'm having a hard time with my teenage son.  He thinks he should be able to be more independent and, of course, I am putting the brakes on to a slower speed.  I don't want to restrict him but I'm also not willing to let him do things that are questionable (in my mind - LOL).  It is such a fine balance.

It is a different time now than when I grew up.  You have to be more worried about kids' safety and he doesn't see that in his 13-year old vast life experience (LOL).  It doesn't help when one of his friends has parents that are okay with pretty much anything.  We have a very close relationship which I treasure.  I tell him that someday he will understand some of the decisions I made as his mom to ensure his safety but that doesn't help him right now.  When he has a son or daughter that is 13 and going through the same thing that I am I'll be able to laugh and tell him "See, see!"

Here's my check-in:

CARDIO:  Treadmill

FOOD:

Cottage cheese
Vegetable strips
Salad with turkey, pepper jack cheese and light Ranch dressing (spray)
Cinnamon Toast Pretzels
Tilipia with green beans
Jalapeno Mustard Pretzels
Power Crunch Bar

Have a terrific Thursday as all of us BOTT.  Remember, each of us regardless of where we live are doing this together.

Cathy - I hate to tell you this but you are starting into the years where you will eventually lose all the intelligence (from your son's point of view) you ever had - you will begin to get most (never quite all) of it back around his age 20-21.  Not a fun time for anyone involved - but survivable.

My exercise plan evaporated yesterday.  All I did was climb two flights of stairs.  Mid-afternoon I had a major energy melt down.  Haven't a clue why as my food was right on - but didn't even climb the stairs when I got home.  I wouldn't exactly say I'm a ball of fire this morning, but neither am I exhausted.  So planning stair climbing and walking for today.

So a BOTT food and exercise day for me today.  And YEAH RAH for our togetherness.

This is my Friday so plan fun exercise for the next three days.

Jennifer - so glad you are finally finding out what you need to do to take care of yourself.  Dizzy isn't the greatest - but it's way better than passing out.

Hi BOTT,
Had a wonderful bright sunny four days in Virginia Beach...enjoyed myself and ate well.  I even had a scoop of ice cream....and it didn't make me dump.  I don't know if that's good or bad, but it tasted good anyway.  I didn't lose anything while I was away; I didn't gain either which is a good thing.  We arrived back home on Monday night and I was sick all day Tuesday and part of Wednesday.  Don't understand and can't explain it, but every time I travel when I come back home I get sick with the worst case of diarrhea.  It's almost like I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, this even happened before I had WLS.  Feeling better today.

I had hoped to start my liquid diet today, but I didn't feel up to the challenge yet so
here is my menu for today:

No Cardio - might try the treadmill later

FOOD:

EAS Chocolate Protein Shake
Turkey Bacon w/ Grits & cheese
Cottage Cheese w/ fruit ****tail
Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad w/ LF Italian Dressing
Salmon Pattie w/ green beans
Dannon Yogurt Smoothie w/ scoop of Vanilla Protein
