Anyone done Boot Camp ?
I went to the gym today for 2 hours. This gym only has people who have had weightloss surgery. Almost all lapbanders since that is the surgery most Drs are doing now. I noticed on the door they are offering a summer special of 10 sessions of personal training for $80. I was meeting a member of my support group there and she was doing the training. It reminded me of Biggest loser. They call it Boot Camp. I am thinking about joining. Maybe Boot Camp is what I need. They do really push you just like on biggest loser. Has anyone done this ? If so how did it work out? See you lighter. Joanne
Genie, The gym is at Delmarva Bariatrics. It is in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware and Salisbury ,Md. It is only open to their patients. I talked to the Dr. personally and asked about joining. He first told me No but later decided to let me join with full membership. I am a support group leader and have taken many people to his seminars. He also sends people to my support group since his support group is for lapbanders. He does very few RNY's now. There needs to be more gyms around like it. It makes a difference working out with people who truely understand your struggles. I had my surgery in D.C. They do have a gym there but it is a little far to travel. Sorry I couldn't help. See you lighter. Joanne
Joanne,
I have not heard of this... there is a butts and guts boot camp starting at my gym but I am always afraid I am in poor shape compared to the rest and don't want to be humiliated. I was fascinated to see you mention Rehobeth Beach. That I think is where my folks went on their honeymoon in 1960. Just remember hearing the name. That is so neat there is a specialized gym. Keep us up to date on what you do try. I am wondering if lap band is the best way to go nowdays. Have a co-worker considering RNY and want to encourage her to do what is best. Lucy

Lucy, It is only my opinion but I really think which surgery you chose depends on how much weight you have to lose. If it is 100 lbs lapband might be good. If it is 200 lbs I don't think it is the best surgery. If I had mine to do over I think I would of went with the DS. The best advice anyone could give is for the person to researce all options and decide. If your parents have any pictures from their honeymoon, I would love to see them. Rehobeth Beach has changed so much since 1960. WOW ! See you lighter. Joanne
I think I should do it too. I am going to check into it more and will keep you posted. My legs are a little sore today but I will be back there tomorrow. Today I have to go with my daughter ( Debbie) to D.C. to the Drs. She had skin removal and hernia repair a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully today she will get all staples out and her drains. I have been doing packings for her 2x a day. I know they are going to have to do some debreeding of dead skin. See you lighter. Joanne

Hey all! I've done a boot camp before, in fact I'm still apart of it. It's GREAT!! This boot camp is not bad at all. It's called Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp. Not sure if anyone lives or works in the Manhattan area of New York but I do and this when I join them. The website is http://www.brooklynbridgebootcamp.com/index.html you can check it out and see what it involves. This particular camp is not bad at all and they allow you to go at your own pace.
