Down 140 pounds 7 months out......... oh what a journey and a feeling!
Today I made it to onederland. I am down 140 pounds since my surgery June 3rd. I feel great, I know longer take blood pressure medicine and I am off insulin. I can shop in the regular stores, fit in booths, it is amazing. However; the mental part of losing this much weight is overwhelming. I still go to the plus size section without thinking, I still behave as if I weigh 337 pounds. Too help with this journey I have started a blog, if you have a minute check it out and follow me.

Congratulations on making it to onederland. I hope to be there soon as well. 7lbs to go!
What kind of exercise have you been doing? So far I have just been walking 5-6 miles a day on average. I am ready to start strength training next week before i lose all my Muscles.
You mentioned earler that you hated the protein shakes. I discovered that a combination of Diet Swiss Miss Hot chocolate or Nesquik, Dry Slim Milk and Chocolate Whey Protein (Body Fortress) works are an excellent source of protein and the warm drinks seem to go down easier for me.
What a Journey!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I'm no pro being that I just had surgery on Feb 7th....but as far as protein shakes go I found one I'd previously pay for though a drive thru! I take one scoop of Vitamin Shoppe Designer Whey in flavor double chocolate, add one packet of diet swiss miss hot chocolate powder (even has 2gms of protein!) one tbls of smooth peanut butter (also packed with protein), 8oz of skim milk, and 3 ice cubes. Pulse it up in the blender, and out comes a delicious 30gms of protein and 8oz of fluids. Check it out!

I have now advanced to doing group exercises such as spin class, step class, etc. I also run, and I do strength training. I do a lot of weight training. You will find that your body will burn calories like a fire place when you start building muscle. My trainer said that I should burn a minimum of 500 calories per workout. I have a heart rate monitor now and I work out in my target zone for at least 30 mihutes. I suggest you do something other than walk because after a while that will get boring and your body will get use to it and it won't be as effective.
I will have to try your protein suggestion because I am not a huge fan at all. Good luck to you, I am sure you will do well.
